John Wayne Parr travelled to Canada and trained with UFC champion Georges St-Pierre at the famed TriStar Gym.
Australian Muay Thai legend John Wayne ‘The Gunslinger’ Parr recently travelled to Montreal, Canada, and trained at the famed TriStar Mixed Martial Arts gym alongside the likes of current UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre and young up-and-comer Rory MacDonald.
While there, 8-time world champion Parr sparred the TriStar fighters in both Muay Thai and boxing. He also trained with old opponent Lamsongkram Chuwattana, a former WBC middleweight Muay Thai champion.
Parr singled out his boxing and muay thai training with St-Pierre as the favourite part of his trip to Canada.
“It was the highlight of my Canadian trip and it was such a buzz to work with such a champion, a real champion,” said Parr via YouTube.
The Canadian St-Pierre was also grateful for his opportunity to work with the Aussie fighter.
“It was an honour training with (Parr). I love training with (him), but I wouldn’t want to be in a muay thai ring fighting — No way! It is just different level and it was an amazing experience to have the chance to train with (him),” said St-Pierre.
