![]() Julie Kitchen was denied an unprecedented 15th world title after losing her World ‘Champion of Champions’ Muay Thai bout to American Miriam Nakamoto. Kitchen started strongly, with the referee stopping the fight in the second round after Nakamoto suffered a suspected broken nose. But following the American’s reprieve, Nakamoto fought back and after five rounds, judges at the Pala Casino, California, awarded Kitchen’s bitter rival victory. Such is Kitchen’s reputation as the best female fighter in the world, after Saturday’s fight, the Pala marketing director said to Nakamoto: “Has it sunk in? You, Miriam Nakamoto, have just beaten the most successful female fighter ever from the United Kingdom and possibly the world. You’re now the WKC World Champion.” Kitchen will now consider her options, though a rematch with Nakamoto may well be high on the agenda for the 35-year-old.
