This is all i can help you with scottya, and others may add to it.

Started with kempo karate and had over 200+ fights. He turned to boxing and had a record between 10-11 wins and 1 loss. He then had about 20 kickboxing fights with i believe his last one against the legend Maurice Smith.

Started training at the Fitzroy All stars with fighters such as ( please forgive the spelling ) Nick Tallakouris, Songul Oruc, Nick & Jim tetores, Chris Allen, Tibor Vermes, Chris Collard, Stan the Man, Sam Greco and plenty of others. Other forum members may add to the list.

The number of titles that would have been in that gym would be scary, not enough arms to hold them all up. In its day it probably would have been the most succesful gym in Australia. Was fortunate to spend one session with him before he passed. one, two, three.

Now his son Aaron has starting fighting, training under Joe Nadar and looks like he has a heap of talent.

I bumped into him at the local Video shop about 3 months after a ShootKarate bout and he remembered me...He was like hey, "Your the guy that did the tominagi"...

Awesome bloke, sadly missed...[^]

Dana Goodson VS Benny Urquidez, from the World Series of Martial Arts from Hawaii in 1974. Black and white footage:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yblJ9VqHW8w

Semi MMA rules fight, looks like full contact karate/kickboxing with takedowns and minor G&P allowed, but standing clinches are broken up?

Tentori, is it not Karate rules being at world Karate Championships?
(i dont know the rules myself so no idea)

But from your description, before I watched the video, i thought it could be Shootboxing? but in their Gi and it does look a lot like tae kwon do / karate...

Met him plenty of times when I was still just a young boy, but I still remember him like it was not long ago.
A great, loud, colourful man with such a vibrant personality and strong presence who always had a big, bright smile on his face. (He was one of those blokes who was just cool without having to be)

but yes as already said Trained champions such as Stan Longinidis, Chris Allan (fought John Myles over here that time), Nick Tetores, Tibor Vermes, Chris Collard.
