![]() Sunday the 2nd of December will see the first WARRIOR FC show in the ACT. Warrior FC will be held in the AIS Arena at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, ACT. The AIS is Australia’s premier sports training facility, and home to many of the country’s best athletes. Capable of holding in excess of 5,000 spectators, its status nationwide as a premier facility is further cemented by the events it holds, from world championship sporting events to concerts featuring the biggest recording artists in the world – and now Muay Thai. All fighters will be accommodated by the AIS, in residences usually reserved for professional athletes training for world championships, Commonwealth and Olympic Games. The goal of Warrior FC is to bring Muay Thai to a venue recognised on a world stage, and a place for fighters, coaches and gyms to cement themselves amongst the elite sporting community. What is Warrior FC? Warrior FC (Fighting Championships) is two shows, featuring both Muay Thai and MMA, in one day. From 11:00am is a show for amateurs; padded fights for first timers and for people with 3 fights or less - a place for fighters to step up and gain experience without having to fight in front of 1000 people on a big stage. From 4:00pm the BIG show starts - a card with the experienced and professional alike. The primary goal of Warrior FC is to run a fight show that fighters want to fight on and trainers want to come too. Our priority is on matching great fights, and putting the focus back on competitors and the clubs they represent. We are about building the sport by running an event the public wants to see and comeback to, time and time again. Warrior FC is endorsed by the ACT Combat Sports Association and all Muay Thai fights will be officiated by Muay Thai Australia in accordance with WMC rules and regulations. Why fight in the ACT? Canberra is a great location to travel too for the weekend - a good trip away for your gym and for those fighters not based in the ACT to gain interstate experience. The fights on Warrior FC will be based on the competition rules, NOT on what the government enforces. A fighter’s registration in any state will not be affected by their fight in Canberra. All fights will be matched for fairness, and not based on professional or amateur registration. As the mid morning show is designed for people with less than 3 fights, all Muay Thai fights will be padded – head gear, shin guards, 10oz gloves, chest guards (Juniors only) and 3 by 2 minute rounds. It is at the fighters and coaches’ discretion to be with or without elbows, but it is all Muay Thai. The afternoon card will feature professionals and those over five fights - no pads, 10 oz gloves, mod and full thai rules. Gyms, Coaches and Fighters If you wish to be a part of the event and have a fighter you would like on either the mid morning or afternoon show, please contact Anthony Manning from Phoenix Gym on 0408 570 961 or myself, Kieran Walsh, on 0413 836 490.
