I was watching the 24/7 episodes on foxtel but never watched the actual fight, I'm assuming it was great fight... I was backing Martinez...

martinez put on a boxing clinic for the first 11 rounds, his hands are so fast, up there with the quickest ive seen. Then chavez won the last round 10-8 . Chavez put martinez on his ass and nearly finished the fight.
that is the first time i have seen martinez fight, he is a super star..

Martinez is now the number two boxer on the planet in my opinion.

The fight was an absolute 1-way flogging, then Chavez decided to get of his ass and put in some real effort in the 12th round & just dropped Martinez hard the instant he came out and put on the pressure. He dropped Martinez a second time, but the ref ruled it a slip & gave him a full 11 second+ recovery with glove wipes/etc... It was all that probably saved him from a possible shocking upset loss.

The MexiGinger/Lopez fight was the better of the big two cards on this weekend, IMO. The fight delivered with EPIC body shots & the rest of the card was wicked, too.

I didn't have a chance to watch the Alvarez fight until this morning on my way to school, but wow, that was amazing, even better than the Martinez/Chavez Jr. He is so impressive. It is amazing how much extension he gets on his punches. That left hook is incredible.

Who do you like next for Canelo Hiro? Personally I think he could hang with absolutely anyone and is now a big enough name to be matched with even the top 3 or 4 guys. The probably is going to be most of them are booked or wont be ready for a while.

Martinez backed Chavez up a couple of times throughout the fight, but that BOMB of a left hook Chavez landed in the 12th would've ended most fighters, Martinez has a granite chin, I can't believe he kept exchanging after the knockdown. Amazing 12th round, but now we have to see a rematch because Chavez landed that Hail Mary shot. The workrate in a Martinez vs Canelo match would be so freakin' unbelievable. Great weekend of boxing, Canelo head and shoulders above Chavez in all aspects, and Martinez continues to amaze at 38 years of age. If Cotto impresses against Trout in December, we could see Canelo vs Cotto next Cinco de Mayo. Cotto was ringside watching him fight!

There aren't many out there that could get near either of those guys at the moment.

Everytime you think you've got Alvarez clocked in terms of the kind of fighter he is, he shows you something new. For me it was his head movement in this fight. Not quite Floyd-like, but Lopez couldn't touch him for most of the fight. The way he handled Shane makes me think that is ready for anyone. I think Cotto is a good next opponent for him, and Miguel would want that fight too. Would be a good draw. Throw him a scrub in the meantime if he gets bored.

For Martinez, he needs Floyd or Manny next.
