Yep shes fighting Rena - they did the draw about 3 days too early. Kim wont be phased, shes a strong girl that got some background in that sort of stuff and anyway, shes just going to get a fight. It was offered and she as a hungry fighter should, jumped at the chance to take it! Good on her for continuing with her training right up until the start of this week when she knew she got the spot 100%. I have faith this girl is going to go places. Shootboxing is not Kimmys thing but shes gonna give it a crack anyway and that the fighters spirit!! Good luck lil k!!!!

2012 Shoot Boxing Girls S-Cup Quarterfinal #1

Rena Kubota vs Kim Townsend

Round 1:
Townsend comes out with a series of kick attempts. Kubota parries a body blow and lands a straight counter. They clinch and Kubota lands a hip **** to earn a shoot point. Back on the feet, Kubota lands a hard left body shot that has Townsend backpedalling. They clinch against the ropes and Kubota lands more body shots. 10-8 Kubota.

Round 2:
Townsend starts to land with high-low kick combos, but Kubota backs her up and lands a barrage of hooks against the ropes. More low kicks follow from Townsend and Kubota backs her up with quick punches. Another hard left body blow from Kubota leads to a hip **** that earns her a shoot point. Kubota works her jab against Townsend’s kicks and lands another hard shot to the body. 10-8 Kubota.

Round 3:
More kick combos from Townsend followed by more hook combos from Kubota in the final round. They clinch and Kubota works for a trip but can’t follow through. Kubota moves in and out of Townsend’s range, landing shots at will while Townsend is stuck in the corner. Kubota lands a hard combo in the final ten seconds and chases Townsend around the ring before the bell. 10-9 Kubota.

Judge Tsuyama scores the fight 30-25. Judge Wada has it 30-26 and judge Suzuki sees it 30-27. All three have it for the winner by Unanimous Decision, Kubota.
