I'm looking forward to this show guys, I've never been to a regional Kickboxing show. Some very talented Amateurs fighting.
Hope to see some of you hardcore Melbourne kickboxing supporters making the trip. I'm sure it will be a fun day out of the city.

Hey, isn't Ben Smullen from Seymour?

It would make a brilliant main event for next time if Ben is actually a local.

TTT,

Just a reminder that this show is on next weekend.
Try and make it out there if you haven't got anything on.

Hi All,

Does anyone know what the fight card is for this show ?

Also, is the Main Event full or modified Thai Rules?

Should be a good show

Cheers, Rohan

Hi guys,

Going to this show, I was wondering how many people might show up. Being a small town not to different from where I live, I've in the past attended local amateur boxing shows in Albury where about 50 or 60 people showed up. I think Seymour is even smaller than Albury Wodonga, and I was really hoping that this wouldn't be the case with a kickboxing show.

I'm glad to tell you that it looks like kickboxing has found yet another home, and for a first time in Seymour, I thought the promoter, Best Promotions did an excellent job drawing a great crowd. I'd estimate that there were around 500 people there last night. Which is pretty good considering we've heard of Kickboxing shows in the major cities that haven't drawn a great deal more. So, a big well done to him and all involved.

There were only 7 fights on, with I believe 4 local fighters competing. I've been to a lot of shows were local people turn up to support the local fighters, Scida's fighters are always super popular. I've found more so than most other gyms. Vukovic's fighters get great local support also, but last night was amazing. Seymour really turned up and showed their fighters some real friggen love. That must sound pretty corny, but i was honestly stunned. These kids got the sort of applause and ovation we might expect from an audience welcoming Mark Hunt back to a home arena fight. Absolutely the most enthusiastic crowd I've seen in at least a couple of years. I'm sure it sounds absurd to you, but I promise you that they were more vocal and supportive than a Melbourne crowd to superstar Zambidis.

The Noakes Haley fight was an absolute ripper nothing short of being a full on war. I reckon it must have turned around a dozen times. Both were bloodied and battered and the fight had to go an extra round with local fighter Noakes finally KOing a tough as nails Haley. I've been privileged to pretty much see both these guys become hardened amateurs by watching them for most of their careers. This was the best fight I had ever seen from either. Truly a spectacular war.

Wallace V Gatt was brilliant also. Wallace is such an excellent knee fighter. In the beginning it looked as if Wallace would knee his way to victory easily, but Gatt fought back steadily stacking up points. In the end Wallace won by split decision. I thought it should have been unanimous because of the constant damaging knees, but hats of to Gatt, he's one tough dude to be able to take that sort of body punishment.

More results when I dig up my fight card.
Overall an outstanding effort from the organizers. I'd make the trip next time for sure. Hopefully they can bring up a couple more of the Scida fighters close to turning pro, and I reckon they can easily turn Seymour shows into thousand spectator events.

Great performance also from Carly Lear winning by KO. Can't remember her opponents name at the moment, but I'll fill in the missing results a little later.

Also, I think it was Rickster, the number one Ben Smullen fan who had asked 'what's happening with Smullen'. I bumped into him last night, Ben has an injured hand at the moment and hopefully we'll see him back soon. He would have been great on last nights card, as most of the fights were Mod Muay Thai, and Ben being from nearby Sheperton and preferring to fight those rules, would have been a pretty good draw-card I imaine. Hmm, perhaps Seymour might become Victoria's unofficial home of Muay Thai, if the promoter keeps putting on higher percentage MT fights to kickboxing.

I was also surprised about the size of the crowd.
It was a great night for country kickboxing.

Well done to Tony Best for a great promotion, look forward to the next show.

Hey Paul do you have any other photo's from the night.
