Should be a good fight , but I really dont think that Boom Boom will have any problem with Preacher. The grapple will prevail once more. I dont think that Preacher has the power in his hands to really be a threat to the concrete Chin of the Boom either. Boom Boom by knees or elbows KO late in the 4th.

warning: non sober post, my recollection of the night... (in no particular order)

boom won on points, didnt have any grapple until the 3rd round, then boom dominated the grapple, preacher only landed like 2 knees in the grapple the whole fight. outside the grapple boom kept preacher out of range with punches and kicks. awesome fight.

chris vs mohd ali yakkub. draw. such a close fight, chris copped a few punch n elbows to the head, and is wearing a sweet black eye n a big vertical cut above his eye. such a fast and technical fight, need to see a replay and watch it in slow motion to keep up with these 2!

kim won by (T)KO in the first round, from a body kick.

chad went the distance and won on points, thou it looked like it could of been a knockout in the 4th and 5th but didnt quite rock him hard enuff.

luke was in awesome form as usual, and despite his opponent weighing in over, luke won via TKO in the 4th(?) after putting the guy on the kanvas 4 times, 2 of which were for a count.

caley won via TKO in the 3rd or 4th from body hits.

kate won on points.

kane won via fight being called off due to a cut (in 3rd). promised to be an awesome fight, both boys went in hard.

brett crainwhite won on points against a more experience thai, from where i was it looked as if he was overwhelmed in the 1st round but came back really strong to win, and he had the thai against the ropes 2 times later in the fight which could of ended the fight with a KO. (personal favourite for fight of the night).

the 1st fight of the night, jamie gorman v matt evans, sorry boys cant honestly remember who won this one, as iv never seen either fighter fight before, but was a good show of talent and a close fight from memory.

time for a couple pints of water and bed, awesome night, cheers to daz and peter, and all the fighters

Great show. More than worthy of being broadcast on fox. I have seen far war worse be put on.

Again the pitbull really impressed. What power & killer instinct!

Also on the undercard kandy kane looked really good at 72kg. I think he has improved heaps & would be a great matchup with Marco Tentori. Would be an awesome support bout on a supremacy show

is it time for preacher to retire? I may get shot down for this comment but he didn't touch boom for 5 rounds. He has had a great career with 130 fights but is no longer a threat to the top tier

Jtear
19-10-2009, 02:38 PM
hunter what fight where you watching i thought the fight between boom and preacher was alot closer than what the judges gave it as for didnt touch him,i recon preacher landed a heap of punches on boom....i dont think super middle weight is for preacher he isnt big enough for it

spano
19-10-2009, 02:48 PM
preacher just won the WKA world title! no way is he ready to retire! preacher is no.1 at 68.9kg in australia. no one can touch him at that weight in aust. the closest wil be soren.

hunter02
19-10-2009, 03:59 PM
Jtear, the way I saw it was preacher did throw a few punched in bunches but few hit the mark. He didnt do much else and looked like he didnt want to push the fight. Boom decided the tempo and when he felt like it put his foot on the gas and dominated him in the grapple. We all know how the scoring system works. Spano, you are right he has just won a world title which is great (I would sell my soul for one) but he didnt win that vs a top tier fighter. All I am saying is that he is a great fighter with a great history. Can he mix it with the best anymore ie JWP, Boom etc? probably not. Does he retire near the top and keep his legacy in place or keep going until he is no longer a draw card?

B Craine-White
19-10-2009, 04:10 PM
i still love seein him fight and im sure others do to ,end of the day tho its his career and hell stop when he thinks its time

Always makes me laugh when people call for retirement from fighters if they loose a couple.
Bruce is still a major player in muay thai and still young, you forget most of his fights have been around 68-70 he gives weight most times because he just loves to fight if you new the guy and see what he does for all the young fighters at amature shows you would be amazed muay thai would surely loose something if he gave it away A true warrior not to mention crowd pleaser

kingwaa
19-10-2009, 04:33 PM
i was not there but from a few neutral friends thought that bruce won.
but thats the way the cookie crumbles, boom boom is a world champ and has defended that title to many times to count. he is no slouch.

as for bruce retiring...pfft please
preacher is without a doubt the tuffest muay thai fighter in aus.
he never turns downa fight and he will never pull out from a fight.
he fought on evo 8 man fighting twice, 3 weeks later fights daniel kerr, then 3 week later fights boom boom. thats 4 fights in 6 weeks. if that is not tuff i dont know what is...
and as for him being to small for 74kg.... if you knew what he walks around at you might reconsider

spano, we will see if soren is going to come close to bruce at evo shall we......

Good point Hell, Ok so I will redirect. Maybe Preacher is still great however being poorly managed. I know guys have to be payed but why fight a 5x world champ 4kg above your weight 3 weeks after your last fight? Im not sure if being "tuff" is good enough reason.
