may they R.I.P.
where was everyone when this happened?
I was at home and had put on the late night news with Sandra Sulley when she broke the news
just as the 2nd plane hit I was on the phone to my in-laws in the USA seeing if they were ok and then telling them what had happened because they had no idea
spent the next 5hrs chatting with them and other friends over there via ICQ
the crazy part was that the information I was sharing from our tv networks, they weren't receiving for at least 5mins on their radio stations

I forgot to set the sleep timer on my t.v, when I woke in the morning, I realised I had left the telly on, then saw the first plane hit the tower, I initially thought wow, what's this movie?
It wasn't until they showed the 2nd plane hitting, that I realised I was watching BBC News, and it was a real event.
They later showed the pensylvania site, and the pentagon, by then I was thinking what the fark is going on here? I thought it was the start of world war three.
Not the best thing to wake up to, that's for sure.
R.I.P all those who perished on 9/11

Yeah I got home from an early run and put on the tele and there it was. Couldn't believe it, like Aaron said, I thought it was a movie.

My heart goes out to the victim's and their families.
Lapo and I were watching the late news that night also, like you Hellfighter, with Sandra Sully trying to keep it together while the tragedy unfolded.
No sleep for us that night... all you could do was think of all the people, jumping out of the buildings on the other side of the world as we laid in our beds.

I was watching The Andy Hug Memorial show. Cro-Cop made Fujita's head look like a plane just flew into it.

I was on a conference call at the time with our New York office which is Times Square, just 5kms away... when the 2nd plane hit I was watching CNN and then the stock and financial markets went absolutely crazy. When the first tower collapsed, Wall St shut down as power was lost.
We lost a couple dozen staff in the North tower. I can't believe it is 8yrs on.

the bravery of fire men and women is rarely appreciated. A lot of guys were lost in the FDNY trying to save people.

I was watching When we were kings, the Ali vs Foreman docco on SBS when i switched over and saw that a plane had hit the tower,i thought it was just a light aircraft so i turned back to the docco.
When that was over i switched back to see what was happening and saw what i thought was indeed the start of WW3.
Could not believe my eyes when i saw those towers coming down knowing that so many people were inside.
A guy who works for our company was in one of the towers when it happened, luckily he trusted his instincts and got out quick.

Well in August 2001 I was in Manhattan working, 2 blocks from the WTC in the Wall Street area. I went back there in Feb, 2002 and the security was unbelievable. Incredible that it was that long ago.

Trying to cover up all of the evidence of American involvement.

I was in Brooklyn and watched the towers collapse the roof top of my freinds apartment. Was erie going into a pretty much deserted Manhattan the following days. The rubble of tours smouldered and smouldered from the remainder of the month I was there.
While we should remember the American victims of a senseless attack, lets not forget the estimated million or so dead Iraqis that resulted from the American response to 9/11, another equally senseless unleashing of violence.
