This is my 1st post, so I figured I would make it a general question and as interesting as possible, fighters/trainers input would be great!
Is it a problem for people to be training/fight training with asthma while doing sprints, long runs, explosive rounds on the bag, and most importantly a bout. For those asthmatics, how do you deal and what can be done to improve on breathing while all the above things are occurring?

Hope you get some good answers, and I'll be interested to hear also.

Mariachi1 i also have Asthma and fight. During trianing while im doing sprints, long runs etc i also have my asthma pump in my hand just in case. i find that it is not as bad in a fight it just depends on your level of fitness and well you know your body. I always keep my pump with my corner men during my fight just in case and get a quick spray between the rounds if needed. Trianing with Asthma is also harder but thats life and we learn to live with it.

Thanks Kathy, lets see how we go!:D.. Also, between rounds in a match is a ventolin inhaler allowed to be given to the fighter by his corner man?

Do all of your sprints and cardio with a snorkle in. You may look ridiculous, but watch your lung capacity grow.

I have asthma and have managed to jump in the ring a few times.
I found that as my fitness increased, my asthma improved 10 fold.
Also wouldn't hurt to see your doctor regarding some preventative medication which always makes a difference.

There is a type of asthma called 'Exertion Asthma.' See your G.P about it, they use a different style of inhaler to help...
