View Full Version : Best Fights Ever

With the Greeks vs Turks promotion delivering controversy, some dissapointment and moments 'on-your-feet' excitement, I would have to say that Jenk Behic vs Mike Cope was one of the BEST KICKBOXING FIGHTS I have ever seen. (I would love to see these guys in a re-match, this time fighting under Full Thai Rules. I think it would have been a very different outcome... remember Zambidis receiving 20 something stitches?)

Anyway... this brings me to the purpose of this post. What are the best fights that you have ever seen?

I would have to rate Mike Cope vs Jenk Behic in the top 10
Among others would also be:
Jenk vs Amir, an awesome battle that went into overtime at the Oceania K-1 Max finals. It could have gone either way.
Zambidis vs Nezif. 12 rounds of world class action with a KO in the 12th. Zambidis was unleashed, and kickboxing had a pint-sized new superstar.
Greco vs Bernardo. Greco dished out some brutal punishment to the big south african. Bernardo's leg was mincement by the end of the bout.
Parr vs Allen. Wayne Parr had more stitches than I care to remember after his run in with Chris Allen. I think this was on the same night as Greco vs Bernardo.. (And Gurcan vs Ambrose)
Ozcan vs Jacobs. Who could forget this one?
Pixie vs Fanta. Ben Burton made a huge comeback after being shin-kicked in the face (he was already on his hands and knees) to drop thai champion 'Fanta' with a brutal body shot.
Hallford vs Tsakonas. A match that was called a draw. Hallford took this bout with only two week notice...

Also I must say that the boys from Queensland are constantly engaging in some of the most awesome battles... The standard over there really has to be seen to be believed. I know Muay Thai is not very popular in Melbourne and Sydney, well what can I say for NSW rules?... Queensland has featured fights on a regular basis that many Melbourne fighters would cringe at.... anyway... THE BEST FIGHTS EVER?

Anyway guys... What are your thoughts on THE BEST FIGHTS EVER?

In my book Oliver Olsen (ron parr)vs Nengtrakan (thai) challenge stadium 1999. 5 rounds full thai rules Oliver come out all guns blazing for the first three rounds absolutly killing Nengtrakan on all cards i remember oliver hitting his with about 12 unanswered puches (oliver knocked out the likes of Jenk Behic, Tony hollywood hill, bruce mcfie, when he was still training with phon martdee) The thai was out on his feet, holding onto the ropes to stop himself from falling, ref stepped in to apply an eight count. Nengtrakan snapped out of it all of a sudden and punished Olsen until the end of the fourth round ending in ron parr throwing in the towel for oliver. Not by ronnies choice however some heated words to oliver after that one. I haven`t seen much of him since he was supposed to fight in the first judgement day tournement.

When did Oliver Olson knock out Jenk? I can't recall it.

Nezif V Zambidis. It was an awesome fight, and I was so surprised. I couldn't imagine anyone giving Baris such a hard time. He absolutely threw everything he had at Mike. No one I knew had heard of this kid from Greece before, but he sure got some new fans after that one single fight.
This one fight seems to stand out from the others for me.

But other brilliant fights I've been lucky enough to see

Behic V Cope
Behic V Dawson
Behic V Amir
Behic V Duett wasn't as hard a fight as the ones above, but it was still pretty exciting. At one stage it looked like Jenk came very close to being KO'd, only to turn the fight right around in seconds and win.

Parr Vs Chapman was pretty awesome I thought.
Parr Vs Dawson, where Daniel threw up.
Dawson Vs Amir was good, the drama several minutes pre fight was an excellent build up. It was good whether intentional or not.
Tsakonas Vs Zampogna had heaps of massive clean shots land.

That's about it, I have to add that I've only been watching since late 98 and have missed a lot of classic fights which seemed to have happened from about 94-97 (Jacobs and Ozkan fights).

Ozkan V Mark May

The legend Celal Ihan!!! & Tibet Hamza!!!

Most of STan the mans fights eg The Crowning, V dennis Alexio

Steve Superkick VIC! and i recently saw Darren Hedgcock on a fight tape! wow did he have potentiaL!! I heard he past away?

Paul the list goes on! I hope that the years to come that more fights are as action packed as it used to be! The sport has developed and and so has the reputation and prestige... however, do the fights get more entertaining? I think the answer is no. FOr example with AFL rules, the "toughness" has gone. Everytime you do something on the field you are at risk of getting reported.... Ill leave it at that.

While on this topic,

Occasionally it would be good if Blitz could throw one of it's old articles from classic fights up on this forum for us to read.
I espescially enjoy the ones from the big hype fights.

I don't know if that's at all possible without someone having to re-type it all again, but it would be really cool, and I'm sure we'd all appreciate it heaps + plus it would be a good intro for people to see the sorts of things they can expect from the mag (just in case they don't subscribe).

I train under phon, I remember one of the pad holders telling me about it, i didn`t see the tape but he called oliver the "corkscrew" because when he hit behic with the winner, jenk spun around like a corkscrew and dropped vertically. We are talking 1997 sometime. he ko`ed hollywood hill the same way, heaps of power, he and his brothers were belgian champions before they moved to australia, olsen retired with a wmtc world strap.

bambam I think your pad holder was telling porky pies. Jenk has never fought Oliver or anyone in WA. We do have a boy who did fight Oliver in 96 in WA. He is Anthony Vella and he smashed Oliver and KOed him in the 2nd round. Now this should be one of the best fights and KO's. Also.... Anthony V's Louie
Jenk V's all his wars
Big Chris V's Nathan Briggs
Paul Demicoli
