Well guys I do have some news for you! I have just found out that Dwayne The House of Pain from the Sting Gym has signed a contract with the K1. Win Lose or Draw with Stephan Leko on July 27, it will b beamed to millions around the world.
He has his shot of becoming an instant hit with such an exposure. Maybe Dwayne can do what Big Bad Bob Sapp has done or even better?! Sapp has the marketing for k1 at his feet and I feel if Dwayne has better fighting skills than Sapp, he will de-thrown the ex-gridiron star!
Anyone seen much of Dwayne? His opponent Stefan Leko is no slack opponent by any stretch of the imagination!

:)Goodluck for Dwayne will they be fighting on Tariks show 27th July?.Thats real big news it goes to show you don't have to fight in K1 Oceania to get a crack at a seasoned K1 fighter or to sign up with K1....
All the best to Mick & his team..

I thought those of you that haven't seen how big Dwayne is might like to see a pic.
http://members.fortunecity.com/fightforce/management/pics/dwain.JPG
He's about the same size as Sapp by the sounds of it.
I've never seen the guy fight live, but imagine even a jab from someone that huge has to hurt pretty bad.

But what is this guy like? Does anyone have any information on his record? Can you describe what he is like in the ring?

Michael Vukovic should be able to fill us in on his stats.
I think he's fought Cedrik Kongaika when Cedrik was heavier.

I have never heard of this guy.Stefan Leko is no slouch.
What ever happened to qualifying for a shot at the K1????
Shouldn't this guy have to do it the correct way???
Beat the best in the Oceania region???
Guys like Jason Suttie ECT... must be spewing, they put in
hard yards only to have a guy that is bigger in size (and hasn't
proven himself) get a shot at Stefan Leko.
I was really liking K1...but if this trend continues...Tarik
Solack might as well recruit steroid pumped up boys with no
fighting ability.
Cro cop proved it...and I hope Stefan leko will do the same.

I understand your concerns Spada.
They are pretty legitimate.
But televised sport is entertainment foremost, and everything else is a secondary concern.
I think we have to accept and live with that. Legit champs or not, People like Sapp (more charisma than fight talent) have done the sport of K-1 a big service by bringing back some huge interest.
This is a big opportunity for Dwayne. Let's hope he will show some flair and keep the media interested. This is not a time to be super humble for him.

Spada i have watched Leko fight for a few years now and basically i think he would make Paul Slowisnski look stupid. No disprespect to Paul- he is one of my fave fighters in Oz, but Leko is a genuine international K1 top-shelf fighter. He is smaller than alot of the big k1 fighters but he is technically perfect. He ha genuine knockout power with hands, leg's and knees. He has fought and bashed some of the best fighters that have fought in the past decade. Paul is simply not ready for this, after all he has had limited fighting experience in this weight division let alone throwing him to the wolves with Leko.
They had to give Leko a marketing tool to fight. After all Tarik is the promoter and we all know that his shows promote hype and and not genuine fights. No-one in our oceania k1 can match it with Leko so lets give him the big boy. Who knows he might land the big one and send shockwaves through the k1 alas Bob Sapp.

Hmm, Stefan Leko SHOULD be able to put this guy away. Who knows, haven't seen this guy fight, but I've know Stefan Leko is pretty awesome. He knocked out Paul Briggs in the second round of their WKA supermiddleweight title fight in the Gold Coast under full thai rules the same night The Crowning was on. That was years ago, haven't seen him fight lately, but I imagine he's improved. But then again, you can't teach size. For the credibility of the sport, I hope Leko wins. This other guy should've been a wildcard in the Oceania K-1 if anything.

Just to let everyone know Dwayne's Fight record is 4 fights for 4 wins by KO. 3 fights were under K-1 Rules and one was a boxing fight.
All his K-1 fights were over in one round.
Dwayne has been given a offer to fight in Japan win loss or draw. Know lets see stay in Australia and fight local's for $1000-$3000 or go to Japan and fight for Over 1 million. Bob Sapp went over and fought, and in under one year has made over 4 million US dollars.

There is one catch michael - Bob Sapp won.

Who wouldn't fight in Japan for the money. We all would fight if the money was right. And we would all pay to see the fight on TV. Every time someone gets a break in life there is people out there waiting to ****-can them. Go for it Dwayne, I hope you kick ass.
Isnt it funny how u can win without throwing one single kick (ie. Bob Sapp)!!

Hi to all
Spada you are correct, Leko has never fought Briggs it was Stephan Nikema from France who ko'd Briggs. I to think it is ridiculous that a guy with 4-5 fights is allowed the chance to fight in the K-1 against a great fighter such as Leko. K-1 for a long time has been the bench mark for heavyweight fighters around the world, winning the K-1 really did mean you were a real World Champion. Especially these days with all the KFC Titles available, everyone one is a World Champ!! Allowing people such as Bob Sapp to compete in the K-1 arena is a total insult to all Martial Artists and if K-1 continues to do so it will be its ultimate demise. In saying this it is not just an insult to Martial Artists but in fact an insult to all Fighters from all styles. Think of all the fighters around the world, training there guts out and then fighting there guts out for a little bit of chump change. Along comes a guy, pumped up on every steriod available who cant even through a straight punch let alone defend himself with any conviction. Then wham sign the dotted line, get pulverised twice by Hoost( I no Hoost lost? but if you have seen both fights you no what I mean)and earn more in a few minutes than great fighters such as JWP will ever see.
Hopefully by the years end we will see perhaps Ernesto Hoost become the 1st 5 x K-1 champ or the revival of the great Aerts. Perhaps LeBanner will finally take out the Title or better still the Black Panther Ray Sefo. Ideally I would love to see LeBanner take on and take out Sapp in less than 1 round just a Mirko recently did. This would surely put an end to the K-1 freak show circus we are currently seeing. Enough said time to go to. Peace out!!

but lets face it guys. he isn't no bob sapp. Bob is big and ripped, this guy is big but not full of muscles(no disrespet).
Who has he fought. Why doesn't he fight Hunt, Suttie, Slowinski in australia before he goes over seas. At least this way he might have a bit more experience and have a better chance against the big boys.
Isn't it funny that they put him in with the smallest of the k1 contenders.
Go leko.

Their was a time [ not too long ago ] when the K-1 was regarded as the Ultimate fighting promotion.
The K-1 organisation [ Mr Ishi ]understood that the Quality of the Fighters played an important part at k-1 level. The early shows showed the world the level of Martial Artist in the heavier weight divisions and the quality associated with them... How times have changed!
I do not have anything againsted Big Bob... "BUT" the K-1 looks like it is starting to move ever sooo closer to the WWF type matchups.
Yes Bob is a sorta freaky type of fighter, he is strangly entertaining, but at the end of the day are we getting to "see" the best of the best in the Martial Arts World? Or is it the wierdest of the wierdest which is starting to gain attention?
Once upon a time to get selected to compete at k-1 level was a HUGE, major achievment, but now it all comes down to who knows who!!!

Spada, that's right! I stuffed up the names in my mind. And you know what else, for years now, I've thought Leko was the guy Briggs fought in the gold coast. Haha, sucked in me. Thanks for the clearing things up.

BULLETT, good point buddy. Hype is one thing but the ability to fight at K-1 level is another.
John Hallford has a fighter who trains under him in Dubbo [ Peter Samson ] who is 6ft7 and weights over 115 kgs, he is the current World Kyokushin Cup Champion and as hard a nails, i hope that he gets the chance to compete with some of the Oceana guys soon as he is a force to be recond with thats for sure.
cheers

Sooty,
If I was John Hallford, I'd send a hi-lite video to Solak.
He mightn't even be aware of Hallfords fighter. I spend a lot of time on the net, but this is the first I've seen Peter Samson mentioned. But, being a Kyokushin champ, he sounds like a top prospect.

Rickster no dissrespect but if a WMF world heavy weight champ is not redy to fight Leko then there is no way a guy with only 4 fights under his belt is. It's great for a promoter to have these matches. If Leko wins He has conquered the giant and that looks good and if Dwayne wins he becomes the next unstopable beast (until he gets beaten). The catch is Sports reporters know this trick and can become reluctant to report on our sport at all. This is because these type of fighters are nomaly flash in the pans and the general public forgets about them rather quickly. I can't help but feel that there are some heavy weight fighters in Australia that must be prety annoyed. I can almost smell a challenge in the air.
