Hey guys,
Does a judge have to score a knockdown if the ref calls it a knockdown?
And/OR if the ref calls it a slip, can a judge call it a knockdown?
Does the judge wait for the refs call to award a knockdown or standing counr OR it whatever the judge thinks?
Can someone confim the formal procedure to scoring a bout.
Regards,
Janer

Janer,
Great question:
I think the best person to answer this question would be THE RHINO - Michael Kenna since he is a qualified judge, I would also like his opinion on the current judging from a fighter/judge point of view.
Looking forward to hearing your comments Rhino
Kind regards,
AX

If its a knockdown the judge has to take it into account. The margin the judge scores may vary but he MUST TAKE IT INTO ACCOUNT. No its not up to the judges discretion. If the man controlling the fight calls a down its a down.

If it is a knocked down and the Ref gives it a standing 8 count, it is up to the judges descretion to give it a 10-9 or a 10-8 ....
So the judges must have given it a 10-9 two of the judges thought he was kicked in the groin....

I have seen refs give a standing 8 when it has been a slip..that is why it is up to the judges discretion whether a 8 count is really called for..

as I said, wether it is 10-9 or 10-8 is up to the judge and usually depends on if the guy who was dropped did a significant amount in the round to avoid a 10-8 loss of round. But if its called a knockdown officially then the judges MUST take it into account.
