We were set to run our 17th shows featuring the Cambodian Bull for a world title fight and the long awaited rematch between Charles August and Eh Phouthang. Now we are having a major drama with the St. Clair Recreation Centre manager.
The Charles Sturt Council who manage the venue has turned around and banned all ring-sports events from their venue. They said that their council doesn’t support these kinds of events because it attracts the wrong people. We are extremely disappointed, but what else can we do. We wish they had told us earlier as we have booked their venue 4 months ago and to only be told 3 weeks before the event.
We are now looking for another venue to hold this event and will find a suitable date. Once again we would like to apologies to all the gyms and fighters that have been preparing for this event.
We will keep you posted.

Pending costs, and perhaps hoping that the sport in SA would benefit, what about the venues where Ethan holds his shows..understanding there may be conflicts..
Good luck either way Im, you're spreading the Khmer word via the sport...

A short-sighted response from the council, obviously making the easy decision over the right decision.

Holy crap - the Charles Sturt Council saying a local event "will attract the wrong kind of people" is possibly the biggest ever case of the pot calling the kettle black. Their council has the third highest crime rate in South Australia, behind only the Elizabeth & Norlunga area councils (CSC = Hindmarsh, Woodville, Grange, Findon & Semaphore).
Do they even remotely understand that these events are attended heavily by students, families & the gainfully employed - you know, the type of residents that the Charles Sturt council wish they mostly had???
Other possible venue choices may be The Shores (West Beach), Dom Polski Center (Adelaide City), Gardens Rec Centre (Parafield Gardens) etc....... Quite a few of the ethnic community clubs can be used for these types of events. A few of the Italian / Polish / Bulgarian community clubs out North & North-Eastern suburbs are used for Boxing & Kickboxing shows. They might be options ?

Damn im ashamed to say i live in Noarlunga now lol
There are a few places down this way that it could be held though, cant say I rate the Gardens Rec centre too highly but the others you mentioned are fairly decent. Good luck with finding somewhere else Im!
