What an awesome night! Jason and Roger from ETK put on a wicked as show! Jason continued his build up to the K-1 Oceania by winning his 3rd fight in about 7 weeks! His fight against Aussie Paul Robinson lasted only 2mins and 34 seconds with ref Terry Hill stopping the fight after Robinson had been knocked down for the 3rd time. Jason started slow - just feeling Robinson out with some fakes and some one off kicks and jabs. Then he let lose with a jab, cross, hook and caught Robinson flush with the hook. Paul looked very dazed and Suttie outstretched his hands as if to say 'is that it?'. Then 'Psycho' showed where he gets his fight name from as he tore into the Aussie like a shark on a feeding frenzy! He launched combo after combo, eventually catching Robinson with the hook again and resulting in another standing 8. The fight continued and again he let lose barrage after barrage of punches and kicks until he connected flush once more, Robinson staggered against the ropes and the fight was stopped!

I just got home and it's nearly 3am so I will forgo a full report on the rest of the fights - I'll leave that to others or maybe will add something more later. Results were as follows

Daniel Tai (Tai Brothers Gym)1st round KO over Ivan Walker (Bulldogs, Napier)

Sio Vitale (ETK) won WKBF NZ Superheavyweight title on UPD against Karl Karena (Bulldogs)

Daniel Robati (Balmoral Lee Gar) won WKBF NZ Heavyweight title by 5th round TKO over Nathan Mckay (ETK)with only 9 seconds remaining on the clock!

Andrew Bahnan (Bulldogs) won split decision over Elia Iosua (ETK)

Sefa Fui (ETK) won split decision over Chris Vanlit (S.M.A.C)

Roger Earp (ETK) won UPD over Andy Donaldson (S.M.A.C)

Willie Lam (Strikeforce)won UPD over Sukbong Chang (ETK)

George Tagipo (ETK) won UPD over Emmanual Shepherd

Doug Karameu (Peter Jackals) won UPD over Carwyn Morrison (ETK)

There wasn't a single bad fight on the card and the Chang/Lam, Earp/Donaldson, McKay/Robati bouts were all out wars that scream 'rematch'!

A wicked wicked night! Recommend that you all visit www.combatvideo.co.nz and score a copy of the tape off Tony!!

Do any of you guys have fight pictures from the show?

It's always very interesting for me at least seeing what other shows look like, venue, production quality etc. Most important of all, so that we can place a face to names we've previously heard about.

Usually I would but I couldn't get the use of either of the digital cameras I usually borrow! There was an official photographer so I am going see if can get some copies. They will also probably put some pics on the etk website - www.etk.co.nz and as I said before I would recommend getting the video. The night had everything, KOs, split decisions, great technique, great heart! The boys all gave everything they had and put on a great show.

Mat,

The ETK website........
Is that private only?

I notice the page you linked us to has a log on thingo, but it doesn't explain how to get registered or if at all you can.

It would be cool if you could get some of the official guy and maybe post them somewhere and give us the link Mat.

I've tried to keep up with what's going on with both Suttie and Daniel Tai. I think we have to be pretty impressed by Thai, considering how close and how good his fights against Ozkan were. And also the Nick Kara defeat. He has to be right up there with the very best in the Ocenia at his weight division.

The etk site isn't members only but is still under construction. You should still be able to have a look around because I dont think that the registration thing is up and running yet. I'm pretty sure that they'll be updating it pretty soon but I will post something once I know where you can see some pictures.

Daniel Tai has just returned to the ring this year after some time away. He has looked sharp but has taken some time to get his fitness back up to scratch. He lost his 1st match after the lay off to Tony White (looked impressive in the early rounds but ran out of gas). He also had a great boxing fight against Sean Sullivan for the NZ middleweight title (or was it light heavy?). He definately scored the more powerful blows and nearly go a KO in the early rounds but Sullivan's fitness and durability are legendary. Since then he has had a victory against Eddie Tongalahi (though the fight was stopped because Eddie broke his ankle). He is a very tough customer and now that he is getting ring fit again he is definately one to watch.
