i dislocated my shoulder in a fight about a month ago & am getting the sh!ts with not being able to train properly & it still hurts a bit, i was just wondering if anybody else has had the same happen to them or have any knowledge on the subject. I know everybody is different & will heal at different rates but any info will be appreciated.
I know i would rather wait too long than not long enough, just starting to get a bit streesed out!!

Yeah bro I popped mine out originally playing basketball when i was a kid(late 90's)and ever since that it just kept popping out. It used to happen in my sleep, throwing jabs, swimming and so on. I found my shoulder to be at its weakest when my arm was above shoulder level.
Eventually I had a reconstruction in 1999, it felt like my world was over because I couldn't even lift my arm. But I kept up the re-hab/physio which involved alot of rubber band exercises, little by little I started doing weights and fight training again. I'd say 4-5 months later after the op it was back to normal, maybe even better than what it was (strength wise). I also did other training to keep fit without making it worse while I was recoering eg. Running, 1 armed tennis and lots of dog paddling. So since my operation in 1999, my shoulder has only popped out twice in the past 10 years and that from being in a car accident and a fight in the ring(embarrassing). But fought in the ring after that and it was fine but couldn't stop thinking about it while I was fighting.
All the best with it and be patient.

i went & had x-ray & ultra sound then went to a sports injury specialist & he said it looked ok & that i couldnt fight for 3 months & just to take it easy in the gym, i just dont wanna do any further damage but i dont wanna go too easy on it either.

Go see Dr Greg Smith at Ferny Grove Chambers Medical Practice.
He is the doc for the Broncos and Qld Reds. He pretty good.

I've had my right shoulder pop 11 times in the past 17 years, and my left shoulder only the once (fortunately).
For those of you that have problem shoulders, I recommend getting them seen to a.s.a.p, don't do what I did, and avoid the issue for years on end.
It got to a point where if I coughed, or even breathed too heavily, my shoulder would sub-lex (partially dislocate).
After my last dislocation, the doctors pleeded with me to get something done about it, as it took 2 docs and a nurse 3/4 of an hour, to finally reduce my shoulder (relocate).
I've had 3 operations over the past 2 years, but may still need a full shoulder re-construction, if I don't look after it.
All the best
