I trained there briefly during a holiday at the start of the year, the new facility is really nice and well equiped.
The trainers are friendly but from what i could tell, they cant speak english very well, and we ended up communicating on the pads using grunts and noises haha.
I thort it was good but then again iv never trained anywhere else in TL so i cant compare it to anything, i hear good things about Sinbi tho.

grunts, snorts and whistles from the pad holders is common practice over here, not many of them like to talk while training... but after can be another story

if you go to Sinbi MuayThai, try and hook up with Kru Mat... one of the best padholders I've ever worked with and an awesome guy, oh, and he speaks english too

http://fightpassport.com/muay-thai-training-journals/patong-boxing-gym-review/ Training is one on one which is great value, most gyms charge extra for this privilage and call it VIP training. The have a whole new crew of pad holders now as the old ones have moved to Dragon Gym in Chalong.I am yet to train at the new gym but it looks great and is brand new.I visited it when it was being built and the views from the gym are unreal.Bring a camera with you.Its a little out of the main area of Patong so you would need a tuk tuk, motorbike or hire car to get there. Its away from the distractions of the old gym and its a real good place to train and relax in tranquil settings.I used to ride up here years ago on my bike when there was nothing up there, just the jungle and beautiful scenery so im glad they have relocated there.
The gym also has a fully equiped boxing shop with all the TWINS gear.Good luck on your holiday and for Gods sake, dont try and steal any bar mats, expecially at night!!!!

no mate, haven't been to Phuket (even after living here for 3yrs :-( ), but I've heard good and bad as you do about most Gyms... I have a good english mate that is based at Tiger and absolutely loves the place and then I got told by another lad that the MuayThai is rubbish, but the MMA is fantastic

each to their own

i have trained at rawai, sinbi and patong boxing gym. rawai always seems to be the most busy of the 3. i liked the trainers at sinbi the most and the trainers tend to give u more attention if you train hard. patong boxing gym was good because it is walk in anytime of the day and train and it always 1 on 1.

phuket soi easydo u anythin about dragon gym? i am looking for a trainer i used to train with a rawai a couple yers ago he told me he was at gym in chalong but i cant find anything on it. his name was chok and he was wel known around the area and even inbangkok but i dont know his fight name

I trained at Rawai In 06 and the training was great but alot of guys that were training there seemed to party harder than they trained.

Phuket muay thai was also realy good tho when it got busy was limited for room.

A small group from my gym are heading back to Sinbi later this year and gonna do a few single sessions at other camps.

Yes i know Chok but i dont know where he is,check out the Dragon gym website just to be sure though.Dragon gym is very good as my mate BULLET just returned from there and had nothing but good things to say about it.Kru Yod would have to be the one of the best Pad holders this side of Bangkok,he is a real nice guy as well.Nearly all of Dragons pad holders were from Patong Boxing Gym.
Orono Por Muang Ubon is now at Tiger Muay Thai and another legend Jomhod is in Kata beach. So,Phuket is a real hotspot to train, relax and have a great time.Fresh, clean air and beautiful beaches.Check out FIGHT GIRLS on FOX this friday as they are now in Phuket.
The best way is to try a gym for a day or two and see how you get treated. If your not happy, leave and go to another gym.

For what it's worth I did a session as a beginner at Patong Beach Muay Thai (distinct from patong boxing gym). It was the first time i had ever actually learnt muay thai so it's hard for me to give useful comments and criticism... ive only been training at hammer's for a little over a month now. It's just behind horizon beach resort and it had both a professional atmosphere with pro fighters training and a friendly atmosphere as beginners can just walk in and give it a go. Cant remember how much it cost but it was bugger all for a 1.5 hour session. From memory something like 300 baht. Pad holder was great but could hardly speak english; Not that it matters, he could say 'jap' 'pun' kick and ebo.

Patong Boxing Gym (from Soi Kepsab) has re-located and expanded.....now in a brand new complex with full size ring, private air-conditioned accommodation, pro boxing shop & restaurant. As always - all sessions are one-on-one.
