Gives a better indication of seating + undercard
If I could afford to I would definately be going to this show. Main event should be great even though it isnt MT and the undercard looks promising especially Oneil Ortega taking on Chris Horne

Sorry guys, moderator error[V][:I], I hit the wrong keys and sent it into IK cyberspace..
Will be an awesome night and as I have said previously, if yuo have nto seen Nathan CARNAGE Corbett in th eflesh, get along to see a methodical and ruthless fighting machine.
Melbourne had JWP on the 8th, now time for some CARNAGE on the 29th...
Turst me, the entry fee will be worth seeing him at that price, let alone the sensational FTR undercard...

That PDF is informative, it also has the old v1.0 flyer that never went to print!
As it says, only 200 General tickets will be available.
It doesn't say anything about the undercard Sean?

I am glad Carnage is coming down to Melbourne. It is just a shame (IMHO) that he will beat his opponent soundly, and only give the crowd the spectacle of a nice KO. I sincerely hope not, and look forward to enjoying a great fight, but I have a niggling suspicion it 'won't be all that.'
Our young fella Grasshopper rang me last night like an excited little kid telling he is fighting on the Carnage undercard!! He can't wait and we can;t wait to be down there again. Seems I am spending all my weekends in Melbourne these days....

Good luck to the Martiall Mix crew on this awesome show - Alan, Russian & Chris, and of course our good friend Nathan Corbett.
Team Martial Mix and cheer squad will all be there to support, and cheer you all on throughout the night.
A BIG thanks to Mr Kolovos for putting on a great show, and bringing Nathan down, what a night this is going to be!!!

Well as we (or at least I) don't know much we can gather that there are the main and semi-main from the new flyer and the 2 other matched fights on the v1 flyer and Tina Ayer's fight, providing they're all still going ahead. Surprised that the show is just over a week away and not much is known about the undercard. I guess there seemed to be some complications re: sanctioning and maybe that's why? Hope everything's coming along well.
Sor.NakSooMuayThai
20-05-2009, 04:37 PM
Who is Tina Ayer fighting?
DazMon
20-05-2009, 04:42 PM
This is the reason the v1 flyer never went ahead.
Tina is not fighting.
Kate is not fighting.
Main = Carnage vs Sinisa
2nd = Thong (Thai) vs Auth (Khmer)
3rd = Chris vs Oneal
4th = Nicole vs secret un-retired fighter(!)
We have about 4 or MKK boys & gal on.
A lot of gyms have 1 or 2 fighters on.
I think there was about 12 fights all up, all Thai rules.

Not a real good way to promote a possible good show..but its on and hope for a good turn out.
Cant see the main bout going passed the 3rd but i know the Jasevic lad has come to fight and not take a dive for his purse first round.. looking forward to Auth vs Thai, they are always good fights between to ancient kingdoms.
Oneal is looking forward to the night after a long lay off and Nicole will be ready to stay No 1 Girl in Auz and is super fit.
There is a side bet on between Oneal and Chris, so its going to be a fun night!

i think don might be hinting at the show being a week out and there is no fight card, except the four mentioned above.
Don Millar
21-05-2009, 12:55 PM
If you are going to bring a big name like carnage you would promote it months out not 1-2 weeks there should be 2000 people there for this one but i know there wont be more than 7-800 and i hope im wrong.
Anyway it will still be a good night of fights.

I think Coburg will be packed to the rafters.
Again Melbourne fight fans, if you have not seen Nathan CARNAGE Corbett fight in the flesh, invest a small amount of $$$ and a few hours and you will see what this wrecking machine is all about.
He's known as the man with the Golden elbows, but finishes LOTS of his fights without them, punishing kicks and probably the best body rips of any FTR fighter in the country / world..
Don't say Melbourne Muay Thai and fight fans in general you haven't been warned...;):D

Hope all my fellow "mexicans" have got your tickets and are ready for the CARNIVAL OF CARNAGE to roll into town starting tommorow. This last week of training has been great, CARNAGE had his last session of sparring on Monday night with DDD and both boys were fast and strong for 7 rnds (Great to watch). Last night was 5 sharp rnds on the pads, tonight is just sweat suit shadow boxing.
CARNAGE is excited about fighting in Melbourne and can't wait to show case his new moves we've been working on, since this fight is with no elbows, something i think he will have to get used too unfortunatly!!!! Anywho can't wait to get this fight on. A big thanks to George and staff for making this one happen.

The Thai guy beat Auth Poutang fairly comfrotably in the end.
Impressive win. Match was abit slow as predictable, but the Thai guy was counter attacking most things that Auth was throwing at him, and landed a few nice elbows.
Auth should have used some of his hand skills abit to see if the could get through the Thai's defence, because whenever Auth was going for the crunching elbow, the Thai guy would just duck and would unleash with an elbow of his own which would generally connect.
Well done to Chris horne on winning! Probably most exciting match of the evening.
The Corbett fight lasted 1 round via knee to the stomach.
Not accusing the Croat of staying down and taking his money, it was hard to tell, however in my opinion promotors should have a clause in the contract with oldish overseas fighters like Sinisa, that if they go down with a round or 2, they only get a portion of the money rather than the full amount, so they don't think they can come to Australia for a holiday, take their decent amount of money and leave.
Not saying Sinisa did that, he maybe could of gotten up from that, it was hard to tell, however there were alot of pissed off people after that, that's for sure.
However that pay cut sould only be for the loser of the fight, not the winner (ie. Corbett)

Well done to David and Allan
3 round war.
Good matches all around. Sinisa looks like a tough boy but 'Carnage' holds true to his name, 90 kilos of pain generation focused on a single knee.
That thai guy was a great fighter, great sportsmanship by both fighters. Those guys can hug, and bow twice a round, slice each other's faces open with elbows and not take it personally. Phenomenal.
Any chance of getting weigh-in photos?
Thanks to the venue and all around, good lighting, good location, reasonably priced food and beverages complete with hot dogs and Dim Sims, it ain't the 4 dollars for a slice of cold pizza I'm used to :-P

Well Coburg had the biggest crowd yet, no doubt abotu The Carnage and his drawing power. Credit to George Kolovos for bringing down the WORLDS BEST. It's always tough to find anyone that will push Carnage, I guess his mext fight is his biggest.
I have to say he looked ripped and also very comfortable at the 89.7 he weighed in at, so Mr. Spong....you're about to meet with some CARNAGE...
Congrats to Chris Horne, a desevred win...
Nicole v Amy Birch was fast paced from the get go, Amy with whippng kicks but Nicole's countering is fast and accurate.. and in the 3rd landed some great knees that saw Amy at one stage drop slightly, step back, I think she was expecting an 8 count, Nic walked to the neutral corner, but the Referee didn't apply an 8 count when he should have, they met in centre ring again and Nicole targeted the mid section again and it was all over.
Great sportsmanship from both girls and was heading for fight of the night until it was stopped.
Luketon v Auth was a great technical battle, a deserved win to the Thai...
All in all a great night

And whilst I didn't pesonally see the end result, the doctors in charge before the Carnage fight unstrapped the opponents ankle guards in centre ring and had them restrapped, as it was alledged that there was some "protection" under the strapping :([V]. If it was the case, and many sitting ringside commented, then thank god that the officials did their job in checking.
End of the day Carnage did what he does best...

Great night, Coburg Town Hall was packed as you would expect with Carnage on the card. Nathan's a nice guy and very humble, happy to take pictures with his many fans. Nathan's first fight in Melb and hopefully not his last.
A bit of a dissapointment that Sinisa didn't put up much of a fight. The issue about strapping needs to be clarified, as there was mention of PVC piping strapped to the ankles. Some of those close to ringside clearly saw it, perhaps someone that is close to Dr. Peter Lewis can confirm this.
Hacksaw is a mountain of a man :) and Amy, was so good to meet you both. Nicole was too strong on the night. A re-match would be good as both ladies put on a very technical, entertaining fight.
Luketon V. Auth, also a great fight. Would be good to see Luketon have a few more fights while he is in Aust.
Congratulations to Chris Horne and Ben Smullen. Another well deserved title.
The Martial Mix crew were out in force as usual supporting their gym. Man these guys can cheer, drowning out the bell. Bushi and I ended up having to screaming into our mic's :D

Yes Bushi, when I went to feel his strapping he said it was just bandage, but it was rock hard.
I knew Dr Lewis would want to check it and alter it.
There was all sorts of tape under there.
I didn't have a chance to check out back before getting in the ring.

100% agree with Assassin about the purse being cut if the fight doesn't go past 2 rounds
promoters/sponsors put up a great deal of money, not only for the fighters purse but, the flights, accomodation etc. etc. & especially if the fighter wants 2 or 3 or their team with them
Orono Wor Petchpun fought Alex Cobra (Brazil) for a WPMF World Title and won via TKO within round 1... when he went to get paid he was docked 30% of his purse because the fight didn't go long enough

hmmm,
Coburg ey...
ok night of fights... but way to many shin padded fights for the price, esp to see corbett collect an easy paycheck in round 1. thai vs khmer was a good technical bout though. well done chris new WMC champ.
no way to an amy rematch with nicole. amy is WAY TOO small to fight nic, she jumped on the scales at 54.6kg without cutting weight and Nic would've cut heaps to arrive at 57 for weigh in. Nic was looking very sharp in her technique mind you... she is having a cracking year, and will be very hard to beat at 57 now. she is certainly riding on a confidence that seems unstoppable. Amy is an exceptional fighter with a wealth of skill, when we see her fighting at 52kg you'll see her reclaim her position as a dominant female fighter in aust :D
oh and well done ruth. we would definitely like to see her in the ring with Emily from geelong on prosecution 8. its definitely time for these two to fight now that ruth has had a couple of bouts. Emily is a good strong little fighter and the two of them would give melb and great female muaythai bout i'm sure.

In regards to docking fighters for a "bad performance" i don't think that's a great idea. Would you dock Clifton Brown in his first fight against CARNAGE (Rnd1 KO)??????????????????????? But i do agree on incentives for lasting longer eg. $1000 rnd1 $2000 rnd2 and so on but thats another thread, once again thanks Melbourne.
PS
Looking for a photo of CARNAGE with the King of the Ring title belt on please

Richard,
I have a photo of Nathan with the belt talking on the mic.
It's not professional, hopefully the ringside photographers will have better photo's.
Will try and send it to you!

Great night, some good fights on the night. The Thai was just too trickey for Auth, but it was a great display of their skills.
Shame about the Carnage fight, but totally predictable, and well done to young Grasshopper, he just LOOOOVES training and fighting, but Jeff tested his guard (or lack there-of) a few times, but the fitness and determination saw Grasshopper win comfortably.
Good to catch up with some guys I haven't seen for years, and well done to Nic, an impressive scalp she took last night. And also to Chris on his WMC title win, Oneil seemed to be off his game, and perhaps this was a bit too heavy for him? Good night all-in-all, enjoyed it all, especially the entertainment out of the ring ;)

Well done to all the Martial Mix boys, all three of you did an awesome job!
It was great to see our good friend Nathan finally fight in Melbourne, even if it did only last less than 3 mins in the ring, it was well worth it in our eyes :D
And yes John Cav - we are a loud bunch but its what we do best and we know it pumps up our boys and girls in the ring, guess all the promoters out there should make a mental note to themselves that in future they don't put the MM crew behind commentators haha[:p]

Good night of fights but the main event was a little disappointing as we don't get to see Carnage in Melb often, been looking fwd to this for weeks, and we only get 2.5mins into rnd 1. Best fight for me was Luketon v. Auth, was in total awe of their technical mastery and mutual respect.....inspiring stuff.
Nicole is definitely riding a wave of confidence at the moment and why wouldn't she, after beating the likes of Alicia Pestana and Caley Lewis in recent times.....now she can add Amy Birch to the list.....an amazing 39 fights (?), look forward to seeing her fight more regularly.

Patricia, keep it up.
The Martial Mix crew are VOCAL and loyal to the fighters from their gym
Bushi and I love it, it creates atmosphere and pumps up your fighters. There is nothing worse than when you can hear a pin drop during a fight with no cheering.

Umm, it was very strange knowing I'd have to be giving instructions to Carnage. The night before I was asking for his autograph. Not long after that I found out I might well be reffing the main events as Ignatius and one other judge were sick with the flu. Now I've reffed 2 WMC Vic titles, its really quite an honour and something I'll never forget.
Any photos of the weigh ins and the fights coming?
