He used the perfect strategy to take Schilt out. Rush him and knock the shiit out of him.

Mwahahahahahahah

I said it before when everyone doubted it. The only person to beat Schilt convincingly is going to be Badr and the boy as someone already put it steam rolled him!

GO BADR!!!

Schilt's reign is certainly over...a year ago he would have been tighter in defence and a lot more aggressive. Missing the GP really looks to have taken its toll on his game. 3 GP's in a roll wasn't a bad run, but like all champs, they finally get worked out. Aerts and Hari showed us that a full-on rush attack is his weakness.

Or you could watch the entire show on your very own tv. . . Well, no, it just finished. (These shows are on Setanta every month).
Dissapointed about the main fight and dissapointed Spong wasn't KO's.

No. Its not affiliated with Fox if you get it. I don't know the specifics, but it shows up on Foxs menu and works through it. Maybe its like channel 182 (Australian Christian Channel). It works like the other fox channels. No different to when we watch our usual kickboxing events, except its Setanta 525.

I joined the other day when I realized they have the Showtime events and boxing (among other sports - see Showtime thread). Some good boxing too, eg Klitscho v Haye (no extra charge either).

You join either for a year or by the month. Pretty cheap too. My deal is sign up for $14.90 and then its a monthly payment of $14.90 a month. Can quite anytime without charge. www.setanta.com.au
I phoned them, and 5 minutes or so later I had it working.

Souwer beat Chahid, Drago won due to a cut with Diender, Leko lost to Manhoef because of a damaged foot (looked bad) and Mourad beat Zimmerman I think.

Was a great show with a big crowd but the commentating was a bit of a let down though.

Leko was winning too.
Apart from the last round, I don't think Spong looked that great, but the commentator was saying otherwise, so maybe I am not expert.
Alot of blood and cuts in this event.

Yeah, and the Doctor seemed quite strict with cut stoppages especially after watching Evo 16 the other night

You are absolutely right. I didn't see all of the Diender / Drago fight as I wasn't in the room but saw the cut and was suprised it was stopped. He was pretty angry about it wasn't he? I will have to watch that one again tonight.

I felt the first few rounds were mostly Spong getting the taller guy with low kicks, but he got jabs through also. In my opinion Spong got a few shots through, but nothing major through. The commentator was much more excited about his performance than I was. Spong did dominate the final found and got some solid shots through, but the other guy took them well enough. Kept trying for the knockout, knees and the like. For me, there was nothing special about this fight. He won by decision.
I just checked his profile on Wikipedia. It was apparently a split decision. When I watched it, they just said the result, not that it was split. Doesn't suprise me. The crowd were whilsting alot in the first few rounds. I think they expected more.
Note my comment below . . .

Next event is 21st June (heavyweight boxing title on the same channel on the same day). You could sign up before than one.

Even a PPV cost more than the monthly fee, so its reasonably cheap. I don't work them BTW :)

Agree completely. Would have been nice to seen it go an extra few minutes to see if Schilt could regain some composure, but he looked extraordinarly rattled from the opening combo from Hari. Embarrassing performance from Schilt.

It was messy because Schilt is a spoiler. I have always said that about him. He's big, strong effective for what he needs done but damn looks ugly when he does it. Way too unco for viewing pleasure but a fight is a fight I guess and the outcome matters most for the fighter. The promoter would think otherwise but yeh with arms and legs flying everywhere of a 7 foot monster, Hari did the job well to get through.

That's what i thought. Usually Shilt dwarfs his opponents but Hari seemed to be on par size wise. Never realised how big he was until he stood in front of Shilt.

Not much to landing a couple of shots on a 7ft three-time World GP Champion while also making him look completely out of his depth?

Well done Hari, now for a rematch with Bonjasky. Ugly fight but effective tactics from Hari.

Terrible fight from Schilt. Where were the front kicks? Knees? Tight guard? Waste of time throwing the jab/roundhouse combo when Hari is all in your face. Needed to use the front kick to keep him away and mix it up with knees. But as Mike Tyson said famously.."everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face"

Well done Hari.

Interesting that you mention his jab because it is something that he has used to great effect in the past but could just not get happening in this fight.

He was caught cold plain and simple. Shilt didn't even have time to blink letalone think of an attack and throw it. It was the perfect game plan but not everyone is capable of doing it. Be funny to see if the next guy that fights Shilt will try the bully tactic.

Wow Hari smashed Schilt. The 3 time champ looked terrible, like an unco trying to get Hari off him.

I think that is downplaying Hari's gameplan a little. Aerts showed the bully tactic exposed a weakness in Schilt so Hari went for it. With a tighter, higher guard and a few more teeps it may well have been a different story...the longer the fight had have gone the better for him but he just couldn't get his composure.

Don't forget Hari has a bit of a glass jaw...he definitely will not dominate the K-1 like Schilt did so I think we are in for some great GP's over the next couple years. After watching Overeem, I think he will figure prominently if he doesn't get any bigger. I think Remy's GP wins are over, as are Aerts'.

Agree with everything there except the glass jaw comment. When Badr has been dropped, it's usually been by a pretty big shot from a decent fighter. That, and when he does get hit, its usually when he is going for a swing himself.

In this fight with Schilt, early on when Badr was charging in, he did take a hit or two but he wore them and kept coming in.

Hoost, Aerts, Ignashov & others (Gilbert Yvel / Fedor) have used the same tactic to get inside and land shots on Schilt. The only thing that was surprising to me, was that Schilt looked so sloppy with his hands and so slow on his feet. Schilt may be ugly to watch, but he usually has very good hand defense & moves quite well.
