is there an up and comers section in every IK mag?
unfortunately i dont buy every mag as im a poor 1st year apprentice
but ive noticed fighters with records like 1F 1L in the up and comers section
no disrespect, but how are they up and comers?

i would much prefer this to feature some fighters that are building a bit of a name for themselves in their own city or whatever, fighters closer to the level of a state champion.. or better (amatuer of course) it would almost be something to aspire to as an "up and coming fighter", to get their stats and a pic in the IK mag..

not having a dig, just my thoughts
cheers

Hi Mitchell. Appreciate your feedback.

The last two issues have included an 'Up & Comers' feature. The term 'up and comer' loosely refers to those with less than 15 fights. Over the past two issues we've profiled 45 true 'up and coming' fighters, all with under 15 fights to their name.

We ran 30 'up and comers' in Vol 17 Issue 1, along with a separate feature profiling a good bunch of fighters with over 15 fights to their name. We than ran the 'Up & Comers' feature again in Vol 17 Issue 2 due to the interest, and will be doing so again for Vol 17 Issue 3 which is due out June 17th.

I haven't profiled a "1f 1l" fighter that I can remember? The 1f 1w profile I believe you may be referring to, belongs to a female who apparently generated quite a bit of interest and is one to look out for in the future.

We can only run profiles of those that correctly submit their profile (and photo) for submission. I can't chase people for their profiles (anymore ;) ) so if someone wants to get it, they need to get in touch as I'm not sure how much longer this feature will run :)

Cheers, Kathy

hey matt, umm im doing sheet metal fabrication.. or light metal fabrication, it seems to get called both?
might change over to heavy fabrication after this year, but im enjoying what im doing right now :)

thanks kathy, yeh was just going off the top of my head.. yeh it just seemed like i could think of a good handful of fighters that dont get mentioned, that i think would have priority over first/second timers.. but as you said they have to submit their own details, which i hadnt realised.

Rather than just an up & comer section, can you do an article on Superboi?

imagine the fun you'd have on here with a thread entitled 'down and outers'...
Sorry...
I must remember to stay positive

Thanks for the emails.
I'm having some computer troubles at the moment, but I'll get back to those that have contacted me within the next 48 hours.
It would helpful if those that are interested, make sure they have a photo ready... minimum 500kb in size.

Cheers, Kathy

What kind of record ratio would you need to qualify for this ;)
