View Full Version : OT - Universities in Thailand?
I came up with the idea today that maybe completing a semester of my studies in Thailand could potentially be awesome. A semeste is bout 4-6 motnhs so perfect chance for some solid training as well while I'm there.
Does anyone know much about the Universities in Thailand or the general state of education there? Has anyone ever studied there? I've had a look at Chulalongkorn University on the web, seems like a pretty nice uni but of course all uni websites are going to tell me they're the best so they can get my coin.
Any info at all would be a help!
Cheers guys

Chula and Thammasat are the go from my understanding. A kiwi friend studied at Thammasat and had a blast. I know a few Thai's who studied at Chula, but not in the international system.

Regents in BKK and Pattaya are both very good schools. I know teachers in both unis, both of whom are from Australia. I am not too sure if Regents is classed as an international school anymore due to the higher ration of Thai to foreigners.....
Awesome

Hi Witt, first things first - make sure that whatever you are studying over in Thailand will be credited toward your degree by your current university.
What are you studying? There are a lot of universities in Thailand but the one's in BKK that I have had dealings with are Assumption University and King Mongkut University of Technology. Both are ok for the IT field of study.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to Regents in Bangkok (personal opinion), the Pattaya campus IS international, but Bangkok lost their status about 2 years ago
Chula has a great reputation

Hi mate, yep I've done a bit of reading on the exchange side of thigns with uni and yeh I know i have to get the units approved for credit before I do them. cheers.
Just about to finish first year of engineering, probably gonna head into Chemical eng. but depending on results at end of semester I might do civil/structural instead. are there any thai uni's particularly known for the eng. side of things?

100% agree with Kiatphontip being an awesome Gym... don't know much about the Uni though, sorry
Cheers guys, Kiatphontip looks wicked. Accomodation, 2 meals and 2 training sessions for about 30 aussie bucks a day to me is a pretty sweet deal. Though I've not been to Thailand in about 8 years so I'm not in the know! What does a gym membership for farang cost these days for say 5 months live-in? What about non-gym accomodation?
I've emailed a few of the uni's you guys have mentioned, Chula don't do the course I'd want to do in English....spewing! But Mahidol looks like it has what I need, the website is in English so here's hoping the course is too! Would be awesome to live at the gym and be 2 minutes from the university.
Cheers for the help guys, very much appreciated!
