I know there's no such thing as a triple crown champion; but I'm very interested in knowing whether Andy Hug is the only fighter to have won a bare knuckle Karate world cup, a K-1 Grand Prix, and a world heavyweight Muay Thai title (W.M.T.C. at the time)??? Had he lived long enough, I wonder if he would've tried his hand at PRIDE FC... Regardless, that is one of the most impressive resumes I've ever seen on a fighter; 'decorated' is a serious understatement.

Interesting topic...
the only problem with this 'triple' concept is that the K-1 has only been won by a few select guys...Hoost, Aerts, Remy and of course Schilt have won all but two years (Hunt and Cikatic the others), and Schilt isn't a Muay Thai fighter. So we have Aerts, Remy and Hoost who have won the K-1 and various Muay Thai world titles and Schilt who has won K-1 and Karate titles...several have won WKA and other kickboxing titles.
There are plenty of karateka in the K-1 but only Schilt and Hug have won.

Who can forget the amazing Hug axe kicks...incredible flexibility. He died suddenly and sadly of leukemia.

not bad for a guy who they said was too short for K-1 and wouldnt do well

well , his win resume has the cream of the cream of K-1 listed in it and more

yeah, his last few years' performance was remarkable for a guy under 100kgs. He won the 96 GP and lost in the following 2yrs' final (Hoost and Aerts)...otherwise was unbeaten. After reading this thread I had another look at my "10yrs of K-1" dvd (bit old now but thanks again for that Snip)...what a loss it was when he passed away.

pretty much, yes. The concept of a 'triple' disclipline is cute but as you point out, not really valid.

Andy Hug should have won a belt for having the best porno moustache in the fight game.

Andy Hug was my favourite kickboxer, I think he had the best kicks out of any heavyweight K-1 fighter I have ever seen. He ran into runaway locomotives in the finals of the '97 & '98 K-1 GP, like you said, though. His fight against Sam Greco was blistering.
