Guys, I got this one from Fightnews.com and it is a pearler! This is news I've anticipated for sometime and can't wait for it all to happen:

Having reached the top of the mountain in the 140lb division, IBF/WBC/WBA jr welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu is eyeing a move to welterweight. "I asked [promoter] Vlad Warton to make an offer to IBF welterweight champion Corey Spinks," Tszyu told Fightnews. "He said they refused to fight me. I do not know myself as I have not spoken to these people. I have not seen him fight. I did read on the internet that he said he will fight anyone. It would be a great fight and a new challenge for me. I would like to fight Spinks then the winner of Mayorga vs Forrest.

To me personally, I was getting concerned if Tszyu was going to just take his mandatory defences against guys away from the limelight / stardom. Now it appears he is doing something much more challenging and something to make him a much bigger attraction in the States.

Here's hoping!

That's would be great to see. I don't think Tszyu would have trouble making weight considering that his natural weight is around 80kgs.

Found this on the Foxsports website....

Tszyu weighs in for Spinks fight

KOSTYA Tszyu is planning to move up in weight for a bout with the son of former world heavyweight champion Leon Spinks.

The undisputed world junior-welterweight (63.5kg) titleholder wants to face IBF welterweight (67kg) king Cory Spinks, whose father Leon sensationally beat Muhammad Ali in 1978.

Spinks' father and uncle Michael both won Olympic gold medals in 1976 and went on to hold world heavyweight titles.

"I asked [promoter] Vlad Warton to make an offer to Spinks," Tszyu said.

"Vlad said they refused to fight me but I did read on the internet that he said he will fight anyone.

"It would be a great fight and a new challenge for me.

"I would like to fight Spinks then the winner of the [Ricardo] Mayorga-[Vernon] Forrest [WBC/WBA] rematch."

Tszyu's move to welterweight is endorsed by trainer Johnny Lewis who believes the Russian-born Aussie destroyer still has several big wins within his grasp.

At present, Tszyu is preparing for his next title defence which will be held in his native Russia.

"My desire is to have this next fight in Moscow," he said. "My first time back to Russia would be tremendous.

"I do remember Bill Mordey [Tszyu's first promoter] at the beginning of my career planned to do this. But unfortunately nothing came through. Now we have a chance to do it."

Tszyu has ruled out Canadian-born slugger Arturo Gatti, one of the world's most exciting fighters, as his next challenger and is instead preparing to face the winner of the fight between England's Ricky Hatton and Italian Gianluca Branco.

The WBC has ordered the Branco-Hatton fight to determine Tszyu's top contender.

GERMANY's world super-middleweight champion Sven Ottke won't postpone his June 14 fight to meet Australia's Danny Green and will instead face England's David Starie on that date in Berlin.

Ottke's promoter Wilfried Sauerland said the German was prepared to face Green but that Green was already committed to a June 2 fight with old amateur rival Jason De Lisle at Penrith Panthers on June 2.

At Panthers tonight, Josh Clenshaw fights Ian McLeod for the IBF Pan Pacific junior-middleweight title.
