Ok, for those in Victoria that have an interest in the sport progressing, here is your chance to contribute.
Email wmcvictoria@yahoo.com.au with either your concerns, constructive criticisms, and or thoughts on "what you expect" from the WMC and you will receive replies.
Lots of talk, lots of opportunity, so communicate and contribute.
For those that are interested in the future of the sport, contributing to its future direction, there will be a meeting held in the very near future.
And if the attitudes are, "can't be bothered", then so be it, move on.
Until then, Chok Dee

I don't think it is rocket science Bushi...from the top of my head.
1. what is the WMC charter? (ie. divisional classes, rules, requirements for attaining and defending titles)
2. current list of rankings and champions
3. upcoming schedule of titles bouts
4. consideration of a FAQs or forum section on their website to address questions on issues concerning sanctioned bouts and titles.

Send that to the OMF Voice...they run the website, not Victoria nor any other state. I've done my bit and emailed the OMF directly tonight with my thoughts, and not all are pleasant, but at least I have done it.

Great intiative
I would prefer contributions to be put on this forum than in private emails that I can't read.
I still think you should work with the WMC bush if you feel so passionate about them, then you can really people to go $&$*^^^&^&

Exactly Quentin. It is fantastic that in one day a non member can get more action then previously achieved and I thank Bushi for his efforts however transparency and consensus is needed not more one on one emails.
Voice has some good topics issues and there are a bundle more.
A good example is any future games and selection of Australian teams. Having been involved in the past I must say it was the unsung heroes who pulled the team together and did all the hard work to make up for the poor preparation and ensure everyone had a great time.

Have to agree with Paul here. Transparency and accountability should be the key to a well run sanctioning body.

Voice - the rankings list & title holder is updated regularly on the website as it stands now...we try out best to keep it as up to date as we can, so if you want to see that log onto the website.
The title rules etc are being prepared as we speak to be put on the website, so give it another week and the full set of obligations and rules regarding fighting, defending, vacating, stripping of title will be posted on there for everyone to see and all the wmc registered trainers will received a copy via email if they have provided us their email address.
There is a forum on the website already for questions and faq's etc its just no body uses it much at present, but it is there.

Thats good to hear. A step in the right direction.
Hopefully more sanctioning bodies will follow suit.

Guys,
Yeah I'm passionate, and maybe, just maybe one day I will be able to officially speak my mind . But for all the whinging and jibes, get off your arses and do what I did. I wrote to the NATIONAL President, got a reply and had a lenghty phone conversation. (not saying you should all do that, but instead of whinging here, and yes it's a public forum, but do your own research and discuss with thowe that can assist you with your queries)
And FYI I pointed out (IMHO) a lot of problems that I perceived, so I said my piece, and was pleased to get a response.
Guys, visit the website, register if you so care and search and you will find many answers. I have and have printed out all the info I need to satisfy myself.
As for Sanctioning bodies and why have them, where would soccer be without FIFA?:D
ChrisQ

You say whinging and jibes, I say constructive criticisms.
Guess it all depends on how you want to look at it.
Bushi
22-01-2009, 06:28 PM
lol, another fair point (see I'm not that blind)....:)
But at the end of the day, IMHO if you want to make change, then get involved and do the things that need to be done, ie, make contact, and yes if it's a case of "what, again", I say yep.
So many people give up in life in general, but if you really want something, make it happen yourself...
As I said, I'm no one in the scheme of things in the WMC, I'm NOT a paid up member, just a passionate supporter of the SPORT, but I cared enough to write to them, obviously my note was considered reasonable, and I got a return email and call. It's not that hard....
bush you seem to forget this is a public forum for finding out stuff and saying stupid things, also it is one thing to ring someone, sanction body, business whatever and then actually see something get done.
To Sarsha I wouldn't take things personally what is written on here I would say that everyone knows that you have been doing one hell of a job trying to get things up to speed.
And if it wasn't for the stuff being put on here how could I read classics like
'did i getting ripped off'
I think this could be the best thing ever for the WMC, all THEY need to do is have a read and do some work , not you sarsha you are going well' and start to make their members happy.
Companies pay massive money on focus groups, mystery shoppers and more to find out what these guys can for free.
Come to think about no-one should need to ring the sanctions they should be on the phones right now

Maybe, just maybe that's why I got the courtesy of a reply, cos they are watching, reading & listening...

Seems to be a lot of focus on the national body, but the world body is in much more of a mess. The list is too long to put here, I've mentioned all the problems in other threads.
Being a passionate supporter of the sport, does not mean you need to back the WMC. Look at Thailand, the muay thai scene there has almost no involvement from them, as they are considered a cowboy outfit.
I wonder whether the WBC can't offer more. They have good backing from Thailand and a long history with professional ring sport. People all over the world identify with the green belt.
IMO opinion the WMC is a joke that just gets funnier. Like all good jokes some ppl don't it at first - looks like now they are starting to figure it out.
Have been waiting for you Hazard, thought you would have been all over this a long time ago

I've been patient! You can now see a lot of ppl agreeing with problems I'd bought up a few months ago. The WMC got off to a good start, there was a lot of support due to it being Thai based, however I'm not sure this is an advantage. Thailand has a lot of problems. Transparency and accountability are not common there, while 'conflict of interest' is.
I believe the organization acts as both promoter and sanctioning body, which is wrong. If the WMC is to survive it's officials need to be clear on their business interests in the sport. It should be about Muay Thai and not reality TV.
It's a bit much to expect the national organization to have accountability, transparency, rankings and champs when the world body doesn't see it as necessary.
Personally I think the wholes situation could be fixed quite easily.
In fact it is very simple

Not the situation overseas ( I know what you are referring to and that is a little more complex and not realy what the problem is here) but here in Aus it is fairly simple; the questions I would ask;
How many meetings are there per year for the states?
How many metings are there per year for the Oceana?
How many newsletters are sent out to members per year?

Mate,
I have lodged my details three times, no joy. I was at the first meeting as were you Mat and we must have had a dozen gyms join and provide their details in full - none of them ever loaded up. Dazmon created the WMC Vic list off his own bat and showed just how easy it is.

WTF??? How can any organisation send you a bill, take your money and not supply a reciept?? I don't blame you for not supporting them if you didn't get one. That is BS!!!

I agree with you about discussing things in an open forum. Maybe you can fill ppl in on some of the 'complex' problems with the world body. When you say complex, do you mean worse? It certainly looks that way to me.
It's all about business and money IMO. Full time officials of a sanctioning body should not be allowed to have other business interests in the sport.

I took the WMC logos off my website coz the gyms kept updating me to the fact they were no longer WMC gyms. And a lot of them are kickboxing so I just made it generic. I'm sure I could expand it to be National.

The Brute Force shows were the first WMC shows in Vic and I created my dinky little website for all those gyms who were interested and told John Cockburn of this and offered to be Treasurer or Secretary or something just to be involved, coz I thought the WMC Vic should have a proper committee, am I wrong? I offered to handle the printing of the events, get the design done, even though Tao was quite capable and creative. I'm sure he could tell there was an interested fan down here in sleepy old Melb but it all went nowhere. And now the WMC seems to get used against me even though I was always the willing one, strange how things eventuate. Oh well, its not too late I guess, the offer still stands. Maybe I could make the receipts or something?

I may even attend this one :D
I fully support the WMC THAILAND and Stephan Fox, the Oceania group still has a lot of work to do here, it's OK to ask for fee's etc, but you need to be accountable and offer something to the members to gain their trust. With the damage that has been done here in Austraila by certain people, I can't see things being any different in the short term.... Pity.

There is a Muay Thai meeting scheduled shortly (24th) for any gym with active muay thai fighters. Not a WMC event (at this stage) albeit the members may be the same.
