Does anyone else out there believe that for our sport to taken seriously in the eyes of the public we need to implement Orginised ranking systems. I would love to hear anyones views on how we can bring in credible ranking systems so late in the piece. Or are people happy the way things are?

as a fighter, i am personally not happy with the current ratings system in australia, and any world ratings that do exist disgust me. worldwide abandonment has left any ranting systems that do exist fall to dust.

how do we fix the problem: get rid of the ridiculous number of sanctioning bodies worldwide

Can't think of the name of the boxing organisation that ranks fighters by software, not just because they suck up better then others. From memory...no lost it...will try and dig it up...but it got a lot of good feedback from the boxing community...

i believe that we need a ranking system. im only 15 but the ranking that we know about at school goes by name and recent fights. for example if someone were to ask me who i believed was the top fighter id definitely say gurkan ozkan. australia needs a ranking system - how are we going to keep track only by word of mouth? the only way i believe that people know about the top fighters is by who they have fought and beaten, or how many titles theyve held - there needs to be a ranking system!!!!

The ranking system needs to upgraded more often. The latest IK mag shows Paul Slowinski as the No 1 super light heavyweight. The heavyweight section is vacant ,yet isn't Paul the current world champ in that weight division???????
The WKA and ISKA rankings always were outdated as well.

Unfortunately if a promoter does not sanction their fight night with a given sanctioning body then they will not send in a record of their fight promotion and outcomes; and you can not find all fight outcomes in the magazines.

Even the MAB couldn't have an accurate account of fight history if fighters don't send in their details about interstate or internation fights.

The debate about sanctioning bodies will go on forever. People who associate themselves will a body in particular choose that body for a number of different reasons, and totally believe there assoc is the best one. Why cant 2 sanctioning bodies take the initiative eg MT is looking very professsional with the amature side of things with both the IMTF and WMC. We know who are our top ten aussie fighters in the major divisions dont we? Put it to a poll run super 8`s of results we have an idea of where our rankings start. Then simply work it like the boxing. I think in 3 or so years when the rest of the kickboxing fraternity has seen that credible titles are being won they will have to join the associations or be left behind.
I fight under the IPMTO we have a passport which is signed before and after every fight with our result, opposition, how we one or lost. I believe the WMC would be the same. Do the WKBF, ISKA have the same? I am not sure, but we have the results all it would take is a bit of time.
