Some intriguing matchups at 95kg for Carnage. It'd be cool if he made his debut at that weight at a heavyweight season of The Contender.

i think it'd be a while before he is a 'fit' 95kg. He would need to alter every aspect of his training. the way he trains now it is near impossible to add weight. And there lies his conundrum. possibly loose the edge of sharpness and speed to move up a weight class, or will he retain it.

If moving up in weight meant he lost his sharpness and speed, he shouldn't do it. Man, if Carnage was a few inches taller... scary thought.

if he were a racehorse they'd put 10kgs in his saddlebags anyway.
Just get him out with you for a few bacon'n'egg mcmuffins before work russ.

Carnage needs to move up in weight to at least have a challenge as he has no one in his league in his weight catagory

yea ya right killa! but i dont think he is big enough to be a heavy weight! super cruiser weight is his prefered weight an i dont think he wants to move up! but it is disappointing to see him fight no name bums cause he isn gettin tested but this guy from NZ put his hand up for it so gotta give it to him for havin a go!!

one possible fight if Carnage were to move to low 90s would be Ruslan Karaev...would certainly be action packed as Ruslan throws caution to the wind and Carnage, while giving up a few kgs, has such a good defence that this would be a great contest. Would have to be under K1 rules I should think but Carnage has done that plenty of times before. I think Ruslan fought at about 96kgs last night so he could quite easily come in under 95.

Carnage needs to do what a lot of GREAT champions do ...and that is shift in weight to find the GREAT fights that will make him a the champion that we want him to be.
C'mon Nathan go up or down and find some decent opponents mate!

I think Nathan is a tremendous fighter.....although he does need to be tested with the likes of Melvin Manhoeff or possibly Errol Zimmerman at around 88 kg...
Nathan has shown he can fight very well under K1 rules winning the Scandanavian K1 earlier this year.
BUT he needs to be put forth against higher caliber opponents...whether its Muay Thai or K-1 rules.

Yeah but that's you DD...
Carnage DID say when he was interviewed on War on The Shore , when asked about Spong, he said he'd fight him at 92, so obviously he'd consider "others" at 92.
But I guess it depends on the purse of BOTH fighters and the cost in putting on someone from europe where most of these fighters are based.

Carnage wouldnt have a problem at 92kg. I think his concern fighting heavy is the open weight of the heavy bracket.
There is one fight that is open market now. RAMA!!!!!

i think spong is never. he priced himself too high.
Melvin would be wicked, isnt he into mma now? hope he isnt tied to a contract. Rama though i think is the next logical opponent. He fights ftr, isnt retardedly priced, and is known enough for it to be a major headline fight.

I know there is a huge experience gap but if carnage keeps sitting on the shelf gettin older and not testing himself and Jason Tramsek was churning thru oponents and staying active and improving then in a year or so it would not be such a crazy matchup as the up and comer will have had heaps more fights and was more along the size of fighter carnage likes to face

Russ,
Melvin KO'd Sting Slowinski over the weekend in the K1, so he's not necessarily that into MMA..
And Stu, why is it sad...are you saying Jason is only ever going to fight KB ?
I say, Thor would be getting itchy elbows about now, we might see that next year..???

Melvin's MMA record is 22-5 with 21 KO's
His K-1 record 4-2 + various bouts in Holland and Europe (Muay Thai/kickboxing/Shooto/K1)rules
He fights MMA in 'Dreams' (the same owners, FEG) that use to own PRIDE & also the K-1.
All fighters are under contract...although they are allowed to participate in other events.
As a match up for Corbett, it would be great.
Both solid, explosive, KO power & good in the clinch.
Melvin has fought higher caliber opponents...But has never gone the distance.
Nathan I think has better stamina & endurance.
A good matchup.

I was referring to the hypothetical situation that 'we' might actually need to wait that long to find Nathan a 'decent' opponent...
No idea if Jason is only ever going to fight kickboxing ....I think it would serve to be very restrictive for him if that was the case.
I think these guys need to take a leaf out of JWP book....A willingness to change styles and move in diffrent weight divisions to find the GREAT fights that will take them leaps and bounds in becoming a real champion.

The thing with Carnage, is that he trains for every single fight as if the guy is better than him. He never ever studies his opponent, and all he ever wants to know is his name and where he's from. That was it keeps him sharp and focused thinking the guy could beat him. I dont think he gets bored. But I do know he gets frustrated sometimes with the ease that they go down. I will tell you something that really bums him out. He gets upset for his fans that they dont get a good showing. That worries him a bit.
Bushi, I have seen them two spar together at about 75%, and I recon that fight will be as epic as the Mac fight.

It's really obvious that Carnage trains hard for his opponents and It doesn't suprise me one bit that he must feel frustration for the fans who come to watch him in the hope that they might just see a 'decent' opponent take him on....It's certainly becoming much more of an issue these days.
We are looking forward to see who pops up next for the Carnage...We are all keeping our fingers crossed for 'That' war that we all know is out there for Nathan.

Carnage has, he started his fight career lighter, won the WMC 79KG World Title, fights his current Cruiserweight and is the current WMC & WBC World Champ, I think by memory has had a few Shooto fights in his early days, has won an 8 man K1 in the division ABOVE his, and also fought Alex Roberts who was 110KG. He has also indicated he'll fight Tyrone Spong at 92KG's on the public record via his interview with Hammer at War on the Shore...

Bushi...
When was the 'Last' time that Nathan changed styles or went up or down in weight to find decent fights ???
It's well known in 'recent times' that he has no interest in changing style or weight to take on challengers....he wants it under his rules (FTR) , which from his point of view is 'fair' comment, but fans do want to see a 'fight' ..not a walkover!
Also, in regards to Spong ...that baby was laid to rest before Nathan made that statement! (It was already news that it would never happen due to rules and money).
I know you love the guy and that's cool, we all do....but don't you seriously want to see him take on someone decent and actually get challenged ??

Jan Antolik from New Zealand would be a good fight for Carnage if the weight was right. I think Jan is about 6 or 7 kgs lighter but if they agreed on a weight would make an awesome fight. He's had a heap of fights, (like 60 or something) and has beaten Ramazan twice (once by KO), has KO'ed Aaron Boyes and beaten many other top notch fighters.
Also Chopper maybe? I think he's packed on the pounds now.

I told you it was a fantasy, but you train with Wayne so ask him what he thinks he could train up towards. I think he would have no trouble bulking to over 82kgs and cutting back for a fight at that weight...perhaps 86 is a bit much for his height but he mustn't have been far off that for his MMA fight against Bonello.
supermario
09-12-2008, 04:59 PM

of course it won't ever happen, but would just be interested to hear what he sees his fighting range as. For example, if a shot to fight for an 82kg WMC title came up, would he consider himself a serious contender?
Hot Sizzle
09-12-2008, 10:33 PM
Wouldn't Thor vs Carnage be just as unlikely as JWP vs Carnage? In terms of being friends i mean. I'd say it would be very hard for JWP to train one of his own fighters to try and bash his very good friend in the ring. Well for me it would be very hard if i was put in that situation.

It sucks havin one of the greatest FTR fighter in that weight division that we will probably see come out of oz get average competition. How much extra would it cost to get some one over from europe to fight? Surely if the fans knew carnage was in for a war the masses would flock to QLD or anyware the fight was held to watch! I know i would, it would have to pull a much bigger crowd
Hot Sizzle
09-12-2008, 11:59 PM
Another option may be for him to leave Aussie. Most people go live in Thailand for a while to further there career but maybe he might have to move to Europe or Holland where there is an apple tree of fighters to choose from.
Slowinski made the move and is getting more fights with bigger names than ever before. Maybe it's Carnages time.
