firstly id like to say well done to scotty ward and no contest for putting on a great show. with every fight being evenly matched, which could of seen all fights go either way. im looking forward to the next show

ok this is how i saw the fights

DANIEL DAWSON V BRUCE MACFIE (NO CONTEST CHALLENGE TITLE FIGHT)this was a cracker fight. one that bruce had to win. both boys coming out in the first a bit timid, already knowing what each other could do so it was a bit of a feeling out process. the secong saw some good hand and feet combo's thrown by both boys. the third saw the boys unleash in the hands department with preache coming out on top. dawson tried a jumping knee but got a big solid right hand in his melon for his trouble. fourth and 5th preacher stepped it up and schooled dawson in the hands department. dawson just had nothing in return. preacher was sharp and smart. not staying in range long enough for dawson to counter. the 5th preacher dropped dawson with some smashing low kicks which seem to take the wind out of dawsons sail. then it was all over. preacher winning by unan points.
also it was good to see peter niewand back in action, helping out in preachers corner.

ELI MADIGAN V RICHARD FENWICK (NO CONTEST CHALLENGE TITLE FIGHT)eli came out in his usual fashion punching on hard and fast. but when fenwick was not koed by the 3rd eli started to get a bit frustrated and saw fenwick getting a few through eli's guard and eli was not liking it. then in the fourth the were tied up against the rope then all of a sudden eli dropped. holding his shin. i didnt see him get kicked there. then fenwick came out of the corner and smashed eli's shin and he went down and didnt get back up. fenwick tko 4th

YOSHI YUEDA V ANDREW KEOGH (NO CONTEST CHALLENGE TITLE FIGHT)this was one ugly fight. everytime keogh would kick yoshi would wrap him up, and every time yoshi would kick he would fall onto andrew. it was a pretty close fight but with keogh landing more combo's before he would get tied up in the grapple was the key factor for him taking the win

TAYLOR HARVEY V MARK SARRACINO (PRESTIGE BOUT)this was awarded a unan decision to taylor harvey. i thought the fight could of went either way with harvey dominating the first 2 rounds and dieing in the 3rd and 4th with mark getting back into the fight with some good hands/feet combo's. and the last round you could of gave it either way

BENIAH DOUMA V PUMAPAI (INTERNATIONAL BOUT)this fight was a battle of the tuff mofo's. beniah's work rate was up but could hardly land anything on pumapai. the lil kiwi had everything, strong guard, good kicks, good spinning elbows, good hands. it was classic in the 4th when beniah threw a combo and missed pumapai, pumapai pretended to be wobbled and did a lil funky chicken dance. great showmanship. the judges gave it a draw but i gave it unan decision to pumapai. you could see the embarrasement on beniah's face when both hands were raised

JAKE TOMLINSON V TAI NUI CROUCH (AUSTRALIAN TITLE FIGHT) jake looked the fitter opponent and was the busier of the 2 in the first 3 rounds.jake gave tainui an 8 count in the third i think. he got up and fought on. tainui came out in 4th and 5th strong but jake had already done enough and was moving around well. at 19 tainui is one tuff mofo jake by unan points

JESSE BOOTH V ANDY SMITH (LOCAL MATCHUP)andy came out swinging, but jessie skills were to smooth for andy, picking him apart and in the later rounds hitting andy with some good step up knees. jessie booth unan points

CHRIS CARNEY V ASH CROSS (LOCAL MATCHUP) ash got dropped early in the first with a straight right. he got up and to his credit stuck it to the end. carney was just fitter and more experienced (6 fights to ash debut)

How Richard Fenwick didnt get DQ for the kick clean to Eli face after Eli fell to the ground in the Grapple got me stuff
His hands & head had touch the ground then Richard land a pretty clean kick to the face
No points taken off nothing
Early in the 4th round Richard landed a looping right that landed on Eli that put him to the ground very odd as there didnt seem to be that much in the punch
Must have landed on the money spot ?

Preacher wow was outboxing Dawson for the later round & Preacher landed a clean knee to Dawson head in the 3rd (i think) and rattle dawson
And seem to get the upper hand after that knee

I didnt think Dawson was going to go down but Bruce was a smart fighter didnt go after his leg all the time
just moved & traded punch with Dawson then when there was a clear shot at Dawson leg he took it

Well done to Andrew to get the belt
He took his time in the ring then started to put a bit more presure on Yoshi in the later round to rack up a few points he need to get the win

some real surprises there.
I was thinking that a good Dawson win would have set up JWP vs Dawson but now I guess there won't be the same interest there. JWP just too good for everyone it seems.

thai-fan, each to there own, but no way in hell did the jap fella win. he would throw maybe a 1/2 combo then grapple. keogh was landing 3-4 + shot combos. you cant win by throwing ones and two's.

and come on russ that was a poor excuse. lol. i had o work aswell saturday and i didnt get home untill 130am.

the show was a cracker, as i said before every fight was soooo evenly matched there was dodgy fights what so ever.

the set up of the show was awesome, with a few more ppl that place could go off.

i especially liked the 3 big projector set ups so you could tell what round it was etc etc.

hopefully i can get on the next show :D

Got to look at the bigger picture Kingy. next day work doesnt come into it as I also work most sundays.
Im a family man with kiddys, so babysitters have to be organised, so you have to also take into account if they are working on saturday, do they want to babysit all night too. Also I finish work at 5, and live half hour from work. So i have to get home, get ready, get kids ready for babysitter, take kids to babysitter which is an hour from home, then from babysitter to venue. Throw into the mix a wife, makeup time, 84 wardrobe changes, 14 shoe changes. Im lucky to get to the venue by 9pm.
Nah, wont even consider going on a Friday night.

I thought the show was sensational. All of the fights were well matched and there were a couple of upsets. It was dissapointing to see Eli go down the way that he did. He told me after the fights that it was his leg that caused him to go down the first time, not a punch or anything else. The kick/knee to the head while he was down was extremely rough and deserved a point off but it wouldn't have changed the result.

I don't think Keogh did enough to win. He didn't either when he pointed to Yoshi after the fight. The look on Yoshi's face and his corner was of shock & dismay..

Congrats to Jake on his win. Was a great fight.

I don't think Beniah's fight should have been a draw, was mostly a one sided afair.

Preacher looked absolutely awsome. After the 3rd I looked at Rob Fogarty and we both rolled our eyes not expecting Bruce to be doing what he was doing, but he come out and dominated the 4th & 5th. Dawson had absolutely nothing on Bruce. I asked JWP when is it his turn and he smiled and shook his head... maybe never??

It was good to meet Rob Fogarty, Scottya for half a second before he had to get home to work (Russ that's not much of an excuse, I got to go and I was on my honeymoon and was supposed to be staying in Byron on fri night but came up the extra distance to see it[:p][B)]) & Jake.

Got heaps of photos after the fight so I was even happier. Was a great show Scott.

Cheers,
