Hi everyone
Following the controversial decision on the Licence 2 Thrill card, there have been many heated posts on here.
I want to state that I don't mind people stating their opinions, and getting a little hot under the collar, but when people start to PERSONALLY ATTACK and INSULT other members of the kickboxing community that's when I will start to 'lock' and 'ban' people.
As I have said in the past - feel free to 'bag' people... feel free to state your opinion... if you thought the HH decision sucked, then that's fine... if you thought the judges sucked and should be held accountable, that's fine - but ARGUE and STATE intelligently, coherently and based on FACT, DO NO resort to name calling, racist slurs, sexual slurs or similar abuse.
At the end of the day, just because YOU thought a decision should have gone one way DOES NOT mean that EVERYONE else should think the same. There were many people at the show who genuinely thought HH won the fight and many that I spoke to who thought it was much closer than a lot of Evan's crew would believe. I respect those people's opinions, they are fans of the sport just like me. Even if I disagree with them I will listen and offer my reasons as to whom I think won and why. I will not ridicule and namecall them for having an opinion.
I have seen such problems cause the demise of other message forums and I DO NOT want to see it happen here. So from now on I'm going to be clamping down on things a lot more... state your opinion, make your point, argue it and support it, but if you resort to personally ATTACKING promoters, fighters, trainers, etc then you will NOT BE TOLERATED.
It's not a BIG MAN who can call fighters and trainers names yet NOT have the cojones to post under their REAL NAME. I respect that message boards provide a FORUM for anonymity, but I draw the line at people making crass, racist and other personal attacks on people within the industry.
Everyone in this industry is trying their hardest in their own way to make the sport grow. We are not mainstream, but promoters like Solak, Matsumura, Martdee, Iannou, Tui and Shepp and others are trying their hardest to get the sport to a bigger audience, and each does so in their own way. Matsumura has introduced SHOOTBOXING as the main events on his shows - some people like it, some dont. Solak has more lights, music, dancing, girls, pyros - some people like it, some dont. Iannous has introduced Muay Thai to NSW - some people approve, some dont. Tui has introduced the KB4 concept - some people like it, some dont.
The point is that EVERYONE is doing SOMETHING in their OWN WAY to help the sport and should be provided with our support as well. How can you help the sport grow when your own fans undermine everything you try to do.
At the same time, if you feel these promoters are damaging the sport through poorly matched fights, using judges who make bad decisions, using poor refs, etc etc... then LET THEM KNOW ABOUT IT but let them know in an educated and intelligent way, not by bagging them for their race or their size or their lack of hair or whatever!
I don't want to be the Internet Gestappo on here, but moderation is required as I am NOT prepared to see this forum degenerate into nothing but a slagging match for keyboard warriors who get some kick out of insulting people who put so much into the sport.
In brief - keep it clean.
Thanks.
