Hi guys,
Just wondering if anyone else has the same problem with their rubber gym mat flooring like I do.
I've got 121 square metres of 1x1 metre flooring. They are only 9 weeks onld, and some of the squares or starting to bow (raise up), like there is an air pocket underneath.
How do I stop this? Are there any tricks?
Cheers,

I am guessing you have lino or concrete under the mats? This will not happen so much if there is some airy substance udnerneath, such as carpet or underlay. This can also happen if the mats are not very good quality, or thin.

Thanks mate,
You guessed it - I have concrete underneath the mats, no lino or underlay/carpet.
I bought the best quality 30mm thick mats - less damage to ankles/ knees etc.
I may need to put underlay under the mats...

Good idea, and less injury hey? I have done some awesome ankle roll overs and toe breaks on our mats, but feels good on the old knees though ;)
As we were laying mats in the newest part of our gym, we picked up a corner and "rolled" them out, almost pushing the air bubbles out. Haven't had a problem since (Nothing but concrete underneath might I add)

Bullet,i covered my garage floor with mats from clarke rubber.Had the same problem so all i did was swap sections of mat around until they layed flat. With one stubborn section,i skipped on it until it went flat. But it took a while of mix and matching till i was satisfied, but in the end it all layed flat.

the problem with these type of rubber / foam mats is that they are all made just a little bit different in size and shape , so some will lock together better than others .
you will have to change a few around and find the ones that fit better with each other , we have laid many of these types of mats in our gyms and under the rings we sell they are very good for impact and are getting reasonable in price now. a must for all gyms
i hope this helps

Thanks No Contest.
I know 110% that my flooring (cement base) is perfectly level and flat, with perfect corners. I was very surprised that for the price you pay for these mats that the quality (or lack thereof) was exactly as you said - different sizes, non perfect squares, some are a couple of mm's higher than others, etc.
