Check out Tariks forum guys,

Sounds like it got a little ugly with a questionable decision main event.

Thread title is something like the Old Tarik Returns.

shacols
29-04-2003, 01:05 AM
from tariks sight via MIKE

For those of you that didn't attend License to Thrill, you missed out on a wonderful spectacle.

No it wasn't the fighters who put on a pretty good show. It was Tarik himself.

In a very threatening manner he marched through the crowd in the balcony, where I had been sitting (centre balcony), and demanded to see the person that had supposedly asked him to s*ck them off. He appeared to have every intention of sorting out the matter physically.

All this arised after a poor decision in the main event. The crowd in the side balcony (Evan fans) went beserk and started throwing things into the ring, pathetic. Then it got verbal with a few taunting Tarik as he stood in the ring and returned the crowds abuse. At some stage Tarik lost it and singled out a few and invited them into the ring via hand gestures. They replied - 'Outside'
Tarik then stormed out of the ring and headed up the stairs with some security staff with him.

I honestly believe that he was going to hit somebody. I'm not sure if he found that one person he was looking for.

It was a disgraceful display and extremely un-professional.

Things I've heard about Tarik and his past are now a lot more believable. Perhaps what we saw was a glimpse of the OLD Tarik. They say old habits die hard

paul c
29-04-2003, 01:07 AM
Don't bother,

Shacols has posted it as I was writting.

Gee man, Tarik realy should relize that this isn't good for his business. I honestly like the bloke, but you can't do stuff like that when your in the publics eye.

Shane
29-04-2003, 01:10 AM
I would honestly beleive it. very unproffesional.Who do you guys think won the main event.

paul c

Headhunter won a unanimous decision.
Apparently Evan has a broken arm.

This info from Tarik's forum by Turk who didn't actually attend.

Controversy aside. What was the fight like? How about Chris vs Graham and the other undercard fights.

29-04-2003, 01:32 AM
Oh well, see what happens when us 4 loyal fans don't go.
The whole world is left in the dark.

paul c
29-04-2003, 01:33 AM
From Mike on Tariks forum:

Nandex's trainer Paul Pfifield said on the mic that Nandex did not win and he thought that Evan clearly won, he closed by saying in his book Evan has 11-0 undefeated record.
Daniel America won, Tony Antoniou won, Slowinski, Graham won....

Who else? I think thats all. Dont remember who was in the first fight.

paul c
29-04-2003, 01:35 AM
Well, it must be some consolation to Evan that Paul Fyfield wanted to tell the world that Evan didn't loose the fight in His Eyes.

Outstanding stuff Evan.
I knew he could face Nandex and win.......even though technically he didn't.

shacols
29-04-2003, 01:48 AM
there should be a rule or something, that when everybody at the
fight, including both the corners disagree with the judges decision.

image if evan goes through his career with out ever losing a fight, his record
is blemished in what seems an unfair decision.

Servant
29-04-2003, 03:07 AM
Damn! The main event featured a rigged decision and Tarik threw one of his classic tantrums. That lovable gangster! Why oh why did I not go? I miss out on all the great stuff..<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

shacols
29-04-2003, 03:12 AM
id love to hear what nandex has to say about the fight.
did tarik actually agree with the decision?

paul c
29-04-2003, 03:17 AM
Me too,

I've only spoken to Stanley a couple of times, he really does sound like a very likable bloke.

I asked him if he was going to win by KKO at no respect. He just giggled a lot, but said he'd love to be able to please us all, and that he will do his best.....but had great respect for his opponent and never said that he would win. Just that he wants to make people proud of him.

shacols
29-04-2003, 03:22 AM
that seems to be general opinion af nandex.wich makes it even more of a shame that situations like these arise .aswell hes always got the extra burden of his famous kko.

paul c
29-04-2003, 03:39 AM
Finally, some info....Thanks Sirbilly, I hope you don't mind the cut and paste.

From Sirbillyg at Tariks forum.

ok from what i remember ill try tell u

Chris chrisopolidis vs the other dude (think graham)
This fight was not bad but chrisopolidis didnt look like he was all there. He usually floods the opponent with swinging kicks which he wasnt really doing today but was punching more. Fight lasted all the rounds and the other guy won on points.
Was sad to see chris lose he fights with alot of heart and i must say his one of the best sportsman around always congradulates the opponent and has full respect for em. not like some other fighters (wont mention names) who dont stop **** talking how they r the greatest and unbeatable.

Slowinski (winner) vs the short fat dude (maurie i think)
This was a not bad fight which slowinski won. The towel was thrown in after 3rd round i think due to the short dude not beeing able to continue. I think he got cut or something no idea. But also another great fighter who has full respect for his opponent and congradulated him after the fight.

Evan vs headhunter (winner)
What can i say bout this fight. Must say was very even fight and evan dropped headhunter in the 3rd or 4th round and got up about 8 seconds, not sure what happend there maebe Michael Schiavello can tell us what happend. It looked like Evan might of kneed or punched him in the groin which the ref didnt not see but considered it a knock out or whatever u call it and started the count.

The decision which gave headhunter the victory wasnt very good news to the crowd. I was sitting next to em up on the balcony(think it was left side) and they were like throwing plastic bottles and stuff. I left straight away to go have some gyro but i heard there was like arguments and stuff outside with tariks brother or somethin (dont quote me on this).

The other fights its hard remembering their names due to the fact its the first time ive seen em.(first fight was cancelled for some reason)

But there was one fight that the fighters werent even throwing punches they were both in defencive mode and the ref had to call time out and explain to em what kickboxing is about and that they ment to kick and punch . I thought it was pretty funny.

Also stan the man talked and goes that after NO Respect Zambo wept in the change rooms after seeing his mentor lose and that he wanted revenge in his loss. He told tarik to tell gurkan not to lose any weight, ill fight him at what he is now so then he has no excuses (think this is all bs and done to hype up the main event).

Also shacols i will be going to see another fight Zambidis vs gurkan on dec 1st . Should be a great fight ive never seen zambo fight and i cant wait his the best.
Think we should get some Zambidis Crew tshirts made up ahahah would be funny i want one.

Also i think i saw u Michael Schiavello at stalectites after the fight was that u haahhahaha. I saw chrisopolidis drive past and i said hi.
Also this info aint 100% right so if i got things wrong correct me whoever was there too.

imo anyway.cant wait to find out what happened exactly.

Man, it's pretty sad to hear that people were throwing things.
I hate that shi*t. Just gives the sport a very ugly image.
I don't know that I'd want to be taking my wife or daughter along to shows if that was a regular occurance.

If you frustrated with a result, than boo loudly.
Don't go friggen throwing shi*t.

Guys I'm absolutely pissed I didnt go!!! My mate called me last night at 6.30 begging to go - I had to pull out due to family issues. ****TTT!!!
Not suprised with Tariks outbursts - you would never see the Japanese K1 oficials doing **** like this!
Unfortunately - one of these days Solak is going to really piss off the wrong bloke - and it wont end with fists and a few fat overweight chain wearing I think I can fight turk wannabe security guards getting involved -
Like you said Paul - my wife used to come to these events years ago - mainly the Stan events - I've since banned her - me and my mates at the end of the day can either flee a situation or take a shot - but its hard if your wife or loved one is close by
unfortunately I'd say at least 90% of people who attend cant stand the sight of Tarik - they go because they are passionate about it and want to see great fights -
Anyway - I have a great amount of respect for both fighters - seemed to be an even match in he end - wish them both all the best in the future
Regarding Paul Fiefield - he is an absolute legend - always has been and always will be - he is the one who got me and my buddies started decades ago as he used to teach at our high school - an absolute legend of a bloke!! Good on you Paul - you should get into promoting!!
To be honest I'm getting sick of hearing about crap like this! no wonder fighters like JWP etc dont want to fight down here - we now look like the biggest pack of idiots in the Aust kickboxing scene
Tarik - its easy to act like a hero when you have 50 thugs to back you up! He is only digging his own grave if you ask me -

Servant
29-04-2003, 01:17 PM
Oh but Tarik is good for the sport Krama! He must be respected and worshipped! Him and his Turkish brigade put kickboxing on the map! (heavy sarcasm intended for the dopey among you)

krama
29-04-2003, 01:48 PM
Looking at it from another angle - the possible negative damage Wonderd i c k's (WD)(Solak) actions could have had on the image of kickboxing are frightening
Imagine if WD actually went up and belted the **** out of someone - and the person was seriously injured or even killed??
th headlines would destroy what this pr i c k l e s d i c k has been trying to build up over the years.
All it takes is one stupid act and BANG!! there wont be a venue out there that will allow promoters to stage events - no insurer will take them on board - and we're back to the RSL club days
I can understand that the brainless, iq of 10, undeducated, steriod taking, illiterate d i c k heads who act as WD's bodyguards do not comprehend what hey are doing - b/c at the end of the day they want to stand up and say 'hey man did you see how I dropped him man?? unreil mait! - bcause all these morons can do is have the balls to fight 2 blokes when there are 15 of them - but most probably never have the balls to step in the ring.
Mr Paul C - I respct you as a person and respect your views, but sorry pall I dont agree with you when you say Tarik is an ok bloke.
The guy is a weed - I wonder what Eddie McGuire thought of all this?
Apparently he sponsored Nandex - even more reason for him to win!!
Tarik you lost the respect of the people, fighters and promoter last night - do us all a favor and start promoting circuses - you already have the clowns and gorillas - all you need are the outfits

Servant
29-04-2003, 01:52 PM
You mean you were not there on the famous "shut up and go home" night? While Gurkan threw a mini tantrum in the ring? Oh for shame! This absolute brothel of a sport at it's *ahem* best!

paul c
29-04-2003, 02:09 PM
Krama,

I mean what can I say, from what I've seen of him,
when he's not busy running around, all I can tell you from personal experience is that he's quite a charismatic and likable guy. But don't get me wrong here. It's not like I hang out with Tarik and claim to know him as a buddy.

But, I have seen a pretty terrible temper which he should learn to control. He must realize that he really is only harming himself, and as much as he's done for sport growth, the outbursts and yelling are just making him look bad. Imagine if one of the papers decided to run the story even as it is.....never mind the what if he'd smacked someone. A couple of years worth of work and investments could go backwards in a huge leap.

It's his business, but I think he's best off just staying away from stuff like that. He's almost a celebrity himself now. That sort of publicity may be good for Byork's carreer, but imagine the papers tearing up a Promoter in the Fight Game. God, imagine the headlines.

joncav
29-04-2003, 02:16 PM
Another Tarik outburst! Doesn't surprise me in the least. After what he said to us at the Ozkan v. Vermes fight, I vowed never to give him another of my hard earned dollars. This just confirms that I made a wise decision.

The rest of the paying kickboxing public will soon wise up to this sort of crap!

paul c
29-04-2003, 02:30 PM
Oh, also not to mention damage to sponsors and possible future sponsors.

I mean for Pete's Sake. This is the real world with real people living in it. We go watch the sport for it's competition and sportsmanship. Not to see two rivals playing out scenes from the Jailhouse. And I'm sure most people don't expect the promoters of prestigious events to behave like that.

Sorry Tarik and Camp, just my oppinion.

Glenn
29-04-2003, 02:51 PM

Hi guys

Sorry to post so late, been busy all day.

Well, I told everyone that the main event would be better than a lot of people were predicting and IT WAS. I thought it was an awesome fight with both men throwing hard, fast and technical stuff all the way. Headhunter was dangerous as always with his high kicks but couldnt get the one big one through Evan's guard, he also displayed a wicked jab which was one of his best weapons... meanwhile Evan raked up points with crisp boxing combo's and good leg kicks to the lead thigh and head kicks of his own.
Evan dropped HH in the fourth (if I remember) with a knee to the solar plexus... i thought it had hit the groin but the replay shows it was a beauty to the solar plexus and it winded HH badly, though he powered on the rest of the round.
In the fifth round Evan slowed right down and that was because his left arm was broken from HH's kicks up high.
The end result was a unan dec to HH... VERY CONTROVERSIAL... now I spoke to one judge afterwards and asked WHY they had given that fourth round 10-9 to HH when HH was knocked down... shouldn't it be a 10-8??? The judge in question said to me that he had HH winning the round anyway before and after the knockdown... HMMM.
Look, how did I see it? Well... I could have stomached a draw or I would have given it to Evan... NO WAY would I have gone UNAN for HH.

Undercard:

Slowinski fought Aumitagi and did what he had to do to win, stopped him with head kicks and fought smart.

Peter Graham went to town of Chris Chrisop in a gutsy fight by both guys which Graham won by dec.

Tony Antoniou defeated Wally Haddara by dec in a smart fight from Tony.

The Crowd was better than I thought it would be numbers wise, few empty seats though, but still ok.

The incident in the crowd... I don't know, couldn't get a clear view as I was busy with Fox stuff. Tarik did go to the top tier and have words with some patrons, but other than that I dont know.

Does'nt look to me like the public is happy at all.
The fans of the sport want to see the fighters treated fairly. Out with the tacky sugar coated shows and in with fair judging.
Judging should be done after the fight when watched on the replay by a panel of well selected judges. This will put an end to all mayhem in the future!

It would be good if Fox could replay the special or something they did on Tarik. It was after Mark Hunt won the 1st oceania k1.You get to see Tarik in fine form.I think Nelson Taione had to pull out on the day of the fights cause of Hep B.Tarik was running around looking for a replacement.Just the way the guy was conducting himself was pathetic. He likes to throw his weight around and bully people.I admire the way he can put on a decent show, but as a person he leaves alot to be desired.
