I was thinking of sticking the knife in at that great opening result but thought better.

I don't think Greeks jump on bandwagons with regards to football. All Europeans supporting football is implicit in their culture.

Australians suddenly becoming overnight temporary football fans is another matter...and that is coming from an Aussie.;)

Turkey bounced back this morning with a goal in injury time beating co host Switzerland 2 - 1,Good game . I was surprised to see some players with turkish roots playing for Switzerland.

Portugal is on fire beating Czech Republic 3 - 1

Hopefully Greece can bounce back as well.

id like the croats to win as they havent won any silevrware at all, spain won it last in 1956 i think, holland won it in 1988 and the turks have never won besides coming 3rd in the world cup back in 2002.

Its Great to see Turkey make it to the quarter finals, its great for the sport and for the country, tonights game against Croatia is going to be very hard for us as we are suffering to field a strong 11, as we have alot of suspensions and injuries but i think we should prevail and hopefully meet Germany in the semi final.

yes indeed...when kept positive football is the proudest moment of nations.
Unfortunately it can get ugly when one loses but as you say, it is all a bonus from here on so hope you guys do well, just like in the 2002 WC. I was at Saitama stadium for that semi final against Brasil and the Turks that I met were in great song and spirit, notwithstanding the loss.

OMG, Russia ousts Netherlands 3-1 in a huge upset. The coach of Russia is none other than `Aussie` Guus Hiddinck, our World Cup 2006 coach, once again weaving his magic and achieving a supreme performance from a team not expected to make the semis.

Guys dont be suprised if its a Turkey Russia final, as proven by Greece in the euro 2004 its not all about the powerhouse nations anymore, any country that make the last 16 is capable of winning the cup. I do hope the underdogs do win this time, but for Turkey 3 times they have come back from the dead but i reken Germay might end it after we are missing 12 starters thru injury and suspension and only named 14 fit players.

Yeah the Euro has had a few surpises, Portugal were looking good then were ousted, The Dutch looked amazing & then the young Russian side did the job on them. Turkey is through to the semis, as i say to my mate Nasasem re. He's going nuts with his teams success.
All you can say is, in the knockout games expect anything, any team that's still in can win the Cup. Prediction look at Spain to choke against Italy. Spains a great side but just seem to crap their dacks when it matters.

Dont want to talk much about the match, but all i want to say is i am very proud as a Turk what we have achieved in this years euorpean championships..I belive they shocked the world with there stunning comebacks and really put us back on the map as a potential threat to the big nations..This Mornings performance was the best Turkey has played at this tournament with a depleted side we kinder got our own medicine thrown back at us, the Turks showed so much heart and character and i thank every 1 of there performance today, Arda Turan and Tuncay Sanli were definatly missed this morning as i belive they could of contributed to Turkey winning, dont want to make excuses but what could of been. Thank you Turkey, thankyou for sharing this dream with millions of us all around the world and hopefully we have learned alot and move on now to the fifa world cup with our heads up high.
