Hey fellow posters and to all those people who are just reading,

Does a taller fight gain any advantage over a shorter fighter? Are taller fighters genuinely better?

A short fighter with a short reach probably cannot get inside of a taller fighter with a longer reach... what do u think? Any fighters here can post there thoughtS?

PS - If your not registered, dont be shy and have your say!

Taller fighters do have the advantage of distance, making it easier to score points while using less energy. Smaller fighters need to be fitter and on their toes more, so they can move in quickly when they find an opening. Fatigue and energy play a big part in this dual, where a smaller fighter needs to conserve more.

Once the smaller guy gets in close, he is at an advange cause he can cover up pretty easily and let loose of some hard shots, however if they fight under thai rules, this may be a different case as the taller fighter can use knees when close.

Overall, my opinion is I think the taller fighters have more of a chance, unless you are dealing with some smaller fighters who are elite athletes, such as (late) Andy Hug, Zambidis, and Tyson (old Tyson).

My 2 Yuan worth.. (still here in China, fighting to stay healthy against the tallest fighter; SARS, scary stuff here!).

Just look at Mike Zambidis and Gurkan Ozkan, neally every fighter they fought is taller then them, and they are the current top fighters in the world.

If a shorter guy is used to fighting taller opponents and the taller guy isn't used to fighting shorter guys the advantage would be with shorty. If the tall guy and short guy were both used to fighting their opposite body types there would be no real advantage either way. It then just comes down to skill level.

I agree with JKLA,

Shorter fighters tend to have more of a boxing style & have to get on the inside to do damage, but the taller guys have the advantage when it comes to grappling & reach.

But ultimately it all boils down to fitness, skill & heart.

A "Smart" taller fighter will use front kicks & Punches and keep the shorter guy away...hence the smaller guy cant get in close and go for it..

In most cases a good bigger guy will beat a good smaller guy. Sounds simple but that is how most of the fights turn out.eg Tyson v Lewis

True, I guess it boils down to heart and skill at the end of the day. Paul, I am at the stage where i've said %$&% the paper mask, I am now wearing one of those gas masks from WW2 the nazis used to wear when carrying flame throwers.. Im back in Melbourne early May, but forgive me guys if I dont post for a while, I'll probably be stuck in quarantine till I'm 38.

Paul, On a rare visit to Tariks website I saw some excellent shots u took from fights. Seen most of them here also, u've probably been asked 1000 times but do you have a website with your pics.
Cheers!

P.S. Biological bubble suits is a **** up at the moment, can't find my right colour.

JKLA,

http://www.fortunecity.com/olympia/imran/723/

It's a loose unedited archive, but it goes back to 99.

Michael Vukovic now is keeping a really good archive on his site.
