Hey guys/gals,
Just thought I should set the record straight. The best fighter is a title that well, shouldn't be given to the guy/gal with the highest success rate. Being a truly great martial artist takes a lot more than just fighting ability.
In my mind, the best all round martial artist is John Hallford.
This man is amazing. His level of dedication to his friends, students and his training is phenomenal!
I am lucky enough to have spent Two years training under him, in Kyokushin Karate and Kickboxing. What I learnt in that time and the virtues and spirit Sensei Hallford instilled in me, I believe is what has allowed me to make it as far as I currently have.
Last year I won every single one of my bouts at the ISKA State Titles. Now, in less than Two weeks time I am competing at the Australasian titles. Win, lose or draw, thanks to the training and commitment I received from Sensei Hallford, I know I am going to succeed.
Thankyou Sensei. OSU.
PS c'mon give him another "Hall of Fame" award:)

Osu Dean,
I will pass on your comments to John, Yes he certainly is one of those one in a Million Students / Fighters who comes along every now and then, and Rises and just about exceeds all expectations. He continuously puts all of his KB / Boxing success down to his Kyokushin style Training.
We are currently training hard for a possible KB4 Matchup..
All the best..
Osu
Mark Tyson - Johns Trainer.

Hi everyone i just want to say that if you look at the fighting scene in oz throughout the past ten years there is only one person who has done amazing things for this sport. he has been able to acheive things that nobody can acheive. that man is GURKAN OZKAN... He has influenced a future and given the past something to talk about. so before you turn to K1, or thai boxing look in your own backyard. I hope some of todays fighters look up to Gurkan and thank god that they are able to fight and make some good cash too!!! So before you role your eyes look up all the things Gukan Ozkan has accomplished and remember that he is still fighting and has yet to reach his peak...

Geez Greek,
Gurkan has certainly contributed greatly to the progression of Kickboxing in this country, which cannot and maybe more importantly "is not" denied.
"Although" One must not make the mistake of being selective when giving praise, as the history and the progression of not just kickboxing, but of many Martial Arts in this country have been built on the sweat. blood and the basically getting up off arses to help and assist in many area's, from fighting to promoting to the guy at 1am who cleans up the changerooms and the person who gives their time and energies to help make things happen. Yes Gurkan is a good, strong, powerfull champion but so are others and to say otherwis is also disrespecting Gurkan, Remember he is a Warrior amongts Warriors!
Something to think about.

well said Sooty. And The Greek I also agree with you. We dont have to tell everyone why ozkan has filled up arenas in the past but one thing I will have to disagree. Ozkan absolutely demolished MOST fighters in the 90's. Gurkan was unstoppable and was and still is the most exciting fighter to wacth, BUT like many other fighters who age, gurkan had already achieved his peak. Fighters like Mike tyson, Ian Jacobs, Prince Amir etc were once great champions, but with age you surely dont get any better. No disrepect at all but, gurkan is now what? 33? Only Heavyweights may mature as a fighter with age, well I hope ozkan could prove me wrong. agree?

Hello again people!!!
After reading the response to my previous msg i have to say i agree with you guys.. I have to apologise if i semmed a little one sided in my response, after watching the Ozkan v Tsokanis fight i couldnt help but feel defensive for gurkan. what i will disagree with is that remark about Gurkans age effecting him. I will tell you now that i watch Gurkan train and i spare him occasionaly, and he is fitter, faster and smarter than ever. I also have the plesure of getting some help with my own career, or lack of... But at the end of the day i am happy that people are still talking about him and his colurful past. Just remember "the man", Jacobs,Ozkan,Soliman,Greco, how many of these guys are still in love with Kickboxing? and how many are still world champs? Think about that...

Gurkan Ozkan has earned my respect in the ring and out of the ring he has proved me wrong on a number of occassions with the opponents he has fought in the past...
Alex Tui would be my most respected fighter and best fighter I have had the honor to have been associated with.
Who better to fill his shoes John Halford a gentleman in and out of the ring well respected and a great fighter..
Stan The Man, I loved his chrisma and fighting style he did so much for kickboxing here in Australia without a doubt....
Ian Jacobs also a great ambasador for the sport great fighter
and person.....
Stuart & Steve Mckinnon great fighters and good boys for the sport very professional wish them all the best for the future...
Ben Steele very nice guy a good fighter....
Adam Edinne has a very strong support base not a bad fighter...
Shane Meads nice guy great fighter has a great future ...
Bottom line there has been some very good fighters in and out of the ring over the years...
The biggest Impact would have to be Stan The Man Longinidis
there will be No one like him for a long time.....

Osu,
Some names in that list have certainly added to what Kickboxing is Today, I would like to also add some names of fighters who stood out in different generations, who also did their bit..
Damian Myer - One of the first guys to train and incorperate Thai fighting & shock some of the USA rules fighters at the time. Especially with Leg Kicks.
Steve " Superkick" Vick - Well what can be said about steve, One of the "few" guys who could actually incorperate explosive Traditional Kicking Techniques into his Kickboxing style, I am sure Lucy that you will remember some of his past fights such as, Alex Tui x 3 times?, Darren Hedgcock, Tony Torcasio, Paul Grima etc.
Anthony Vella - Just a full on workhorse! & One of the best Thai fighters to ever come out of Vic.
Lui Losifidies - I think that Lui was also one of the first real flashy showmen to add flair and style to his entry and he was a very good fighter.
Nick Teroris - geeez he is still kickin butts!
