Shane Meads kicking Cedric Kongaika (sorry about the spelling, I've seen Cedric's name spelt half a dozen different ways, but kinda think this is the more popular version)

Same guys.
You guys are going to love this fight when it airs on Fox in a couple of weeks. Just totally extrodinary power being thrown and kicked by both fighters.
Meads won by a pretty decent margin, but Cedrik deserves big wraps for just being able to handle so of these wicked kicks of Shanes.

I would just like to say a few things..if they seem biased then tuff.
I was there and have a few things to say
1. look cedric is and did a great job on the night with only 2 days notice ..BUT tarik tried to make out that cedric only had 2 days to train (wot doesnt he train unless he has a fight coming up) and also cedric was annouced as weighing 90kgs to shanes 92kgs.."WRONG" cedric was weighing close to/over 100kgs to shanes 92kgs (shane's first fight as a super cruiserweight)
2. Also wot made tarik look pathetic was the way he haggled in-ring about a rematch and "stated" the date HE wanted , NOT checking or caring if shane had any other commitments on or around those dates
AS per usual tarik Doesnt like 1 of his boys losing and that shone thru on the night..and yes cedric was a last minute replacement as shanes schedualed opponent couldnt make it from u.s.a ,but wot automaticlly gives him first dibs and challenging shane for his world title..wot about the other fighters who rightly deserve a crack at it...
Too BOTH shane & cedric great fight and showmanship..(a rematch would be awesome to watch..when THEY are ready )
To lucy , amir and the rest involed that night AWESOME show..keep shows like that coming and kickboxing will continue to florish and become the BIG shows to watch
Tarik,,You AINT the big man in sydney..but you do a good job otherwise

I hadn't seen Meads fight in a long time. The last time was probably in 2001. I'd love to see this guy fighting as a heavy-weight. He certainly seems to have the power, and the chin I reckon. I've seen him tagged big time and recover several times now.
A N.S.W fight with Slowinski would be spectacular I reckon. He's mates with Kara and Mckinnon, so Slowinski is the only guy I can think for a super fight with Shane.
Does anyone know if they have come across each others paths before?
sniffa
16-04-2003, 05:07 AM
No shane hasnt come across slowinski's path that i know of..shane has been having regular fights since 2001 ( 3 current world titles to hes name ,along with some others)
shane is still amatuer..wheres slowinski is pro now isnt he ??
anyway..lucy u know who iam ;) and it was a great turn out for you and amir
anything else you might want to know paul C you can private msg me if you like, as i dont want to look like im blowing shanes trumpet even though he doesnt need it
and yes janer cedric is a good fighter & did a great job considering..but u cant have 1 winner without a loser,,even though he wasnt a loser

No shane hasnt coem across slowinski's path (in ring)
also shanes current standing are
18 fights..1 lose ( steve mckinnon)10 or 11 wins by knockout
not too shabby for a 23yr old guy ( other fighters are just as talented )also ask lucy but shane would have to have 1 of the loudest and active fan base following at EVERY fight..in the sport ..Now if only kickboxing in Australia can get the recognition it so very rightly deserves
p.s the WHOLE of australia needs to fight under the 1 set of rules..ie no knees, elbows in nsw but its ok for the rest of OZ

:)I have watched Shane Meads fight from day one when he was with Rob Wilesmith then Son Doi and now Stuart Mckinnon he has come along way, he would be the most grateful and committed fighter I have ever promoted, he is a gentleman in and out of the ring and has a fantastic support group, I wish him all the success in this sport. He showed the other night that he can fight heavyweights and he is not scared of anyone he would be Bulldogs number one fighter at the moment.....

Lucy, with your knowledge of meads and Slowinski who do you think would be the best chance to win this and how? Say if the fight was at 92 kilo's.

:)Hi Koshy, mmmm..good question. I must say that Paul has had more experience fighting in the ring overseas and has now stepped up into the superheavyweight divisions he is still to be tested and from what I have seen has a got a great future as well
between him and Shane Meads it would be a great fight but would have to lean towards Paul Slowinski because he has had more experience fighting overseas...I would love to promote that fight here in Sydney ...but with Paul fighting on Tariks April 28th show we can see what happens from there he is fighting Clay Auimatagi who is the biggest puncher going around so it would be very interesting....Give Shane a few more fights as a heavyweight then I guess a fight between him and Paul Slowinski would be a ripper... all the best for the two of them for there future in kickboxing....

I will say 1 thing i know is for sure and that is
Shane will fight just about anyone ,anywhere as he has shown before and lucy could confirm this
I do know shane isnt in a rush to turn pro just yet he is enjoying where he is going and doing at the moment but he has a few family and private things to do this year before he can commit fully to fighting pro as thats just they way he is with training & fighting,,,so dont expect him to be pro this year unless its a damn good offer or otherwise

Did anyone catch the show on Fox?
What did you Victorian blokes think?
I thought the Meads V Cedric fight was even better than what I thought seeing it live. Cedric is one tough dude. Meads just a powerhouse. I'm looking forward to seeing more of him on Fox, would be cool to see him fighting in Melbourne as well, but just can't think of anyone local to fight him. Maybe Daniel America with a few more fights.
Foley's fight.
I swear I think that I must bring Foley bad luck. He said tonight that he's been cut 3 times, and Strangely, the very few times I do go to Sydney shows, I've managed to see Foley cut every single time I've watched him fight.

meads and cedric was an awesome tough fight.how much punishment did they take.did you catch the 2 right hooks cedric planted on shane, the second when he was coming up of the ropes.god damn clean shots to.
also i thought reinhardt and sonne had a good fight.badato really came forward in the laater rounds and took the fight away from sonne.
maybe you should stay away from foley and zam if it evers happens.lol
kidding mate, wed miss some awesome pics .
sydney isnt much farther than melbourne from you is it?i dont know.
or is it a jurisdiction thing.with other photo pros?

I'm 3 hours away from Melbourne CBD, and about 5.5 hours from Sydney CBD.
No Sydney is by buddy Ian Sly's turf. He officially shoots the Sydney stuff for kickboxer. I just wanted to see the fights, and thought I'd take some shots for us here on the web.
There's no jurisdiction thing, I just respect Ian and his work and only hand in the Melbourne stuff to IK.

i thought Sone Vannnathy beat reindhart Badato...

So did I Seth, i thought Sone did enough to win on points he looked impresive on the night, especially round 3 - that kick!
he didn't sit back as much as he did when i fought him last year, but he definetley put the pressure on bodato

i still think badato won,it was an enjoyable fight, but i think that reinhardt kept going while sonne slowed, thats all.

after watching prince amirs show and seeing it on Fox sports 2 i asked myself the question why does the ring announcer Bill Fisher always stuff up peoples names and get information wrong. Is it his fault or is he just announcing incorrect information. He referred to Chris Johnson as "white super" instead of "white sniper" he also called Lucy Tui, Lucy Tai or something like that - i mean it is kind of humourous but at the same time i dont think there is any excuse for it especially when its on national Tv
