IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE RESULTS OF THE MAIN FIGHT BETWEEN BOB SAPP AND MIRKO CRO COP DONT READ THIS... hence i put the word SPOILER before the topic name :)
If you know the result and want some extra edge before watching it on PPV... READ ON.
Bob Sapp now claims that he was thumbed in the eye by Mirko during their recent fight in Saitama. Controversy is raging once again in K-1 as Bob says that Mirko 'thrusted' him in the eye which affected his sight and subsequently Bob was later KO'd by a straight left hand heard around the world (it was a friggin big shot!).
Here's one report by a respected K-1 journalist from the States:
Amidst the shot heard around the martial arts world, the one that put 375-pound Bob Sapp on his back on Sunday, March 30th, a storm of controversy is looming in the air.
Before a sold-out crowd of 22,320 at Japan’s Saitama Super Arena last weekend, Croatia’s Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic ended Sapp’s wild rampage that twice last year caused the destruction of four time K-1 World Grand Prix champion Ernesto Hoost. It took Filipovic less than one minute to take care of business against “The Beast” after the Croatian began intelligently picking his shots while using the entire ring to stay on the outside of his opponent. A straight left hand from Filipovic that followed a left Thai kick to Sapp’s ribs put the big man down for the ten count.
A closer look at the footage from Sunday’s showdown, though, reveals that Sapp was also thumbed in the eye with a Cro Cop glove during the heat of battle immediately before the knockdown. It was this incident that left Sapp’s right eye outrageously swollen and in need of considerable medical attention. Due to the severity of the injury, Sapp was unable to attend the post-fight press conference.
Hmmm... tune into the Main Event PPV on April 15 and check it our for yourselves people. Was Bob Sapp thumbed in the eye? Or was this just a monumental knockout that stopped the Sapp hoo-haa in its tracks? Be interested to hear everyone's thoughts after watching the fight. Never any shortage of controversy where BIG BOB is involved.
