95% of them were pre-Ian Jacobs

Pete, nicest way to say this is that it's a bullshi* stat.:)
I remember at one show they anounced it as 30 first round KO's, next show it was something like 35, next show it went down to 25. LOL! In all honesty I can't think of 5 first round KO's off the top of my head and I have see about 90% of Gurkan's fights since his career began.

Here's some more for you Janer
- Changpuek Kiatsongrit
- Keith Clewly
- Mark McAllen
- Paul Robinson
Most were pre-Jacobs days from those old Billboard/Metro shows.

Janer, my man - the english bloke Keith Clewly (should be Clewless !)
was not fully KO'd in the sense, I believe that fight was stopped prematurely by the ref - Clewless was doing the old Mahamad Ali against the ropes shuffle, had a bloody nose and the ref thought he was getting slaughtered - the bloke was no were near KO stage - so I would not include this one.

Really I cant remember the names!! And there were at least a few more Ko/tkos at metro and billboards. Admin your right, most of them were before 1996.
We now have 7 which finished inside the 1st round...

BTW, a TKO/KO in the first round are both really good! And doenst a TKO get called a KO when they read anyones fight record? I have never heard a MC say " In the Pink corner, he has had a record of 20 wins with 5 coming with the way of knockout and 10 coming by the way of TKO!" They only say "with 15 coming by the way of knockout!".

KRAMA, can you think of any?

Well done Janer, you thought of 7. Only 28 to go! (35 first round KO's remember, you used to say it too!):)
If you can make it to 10 I'll shout you a beer!
This is very true janer.
So does this mean that Gurkan has been Ko'd by Chris Crishopalities(don't know how to spell it) ?
When i put this in a thread a few months ago You ( JANER) asked me if i know what KO was.
I do agree with you, tko is the same as ko on the records. Then you must face the fact and admit Gurkan has lost by Ko.

ahh Mick, Gurkan diddnt continue with the fight Because he fell out of the ring and hurt his neck, from what i heard Gurkan was killing Crisoplidis in the first rnd.

Spot on mick!! but dont forget some of these guys think OZKANS a god so different rules apply to him... and what about slowinski and suttie didnt they challenge ozkan?? thats two fights hes ducked this year.... when some people blindly defend him saying ozkan would never duck fights and for fighters to challenge him! and when 2 top fighters do tarik looks the other way..

Sethridge... where did Slowinski EVER challenge Ozkan? Please tell me cos I've never ever heard of it.
As for Suttie... Ozkan answers that challenge in the next issue of International Kickboxer magazine. You'll see his answer in there.

Guys,
The Slowinsky V Ozkan challenge actually came from one of the forum members saying something like 'Ozkan would never agree to fight Slowinski under Thai Rules'.
Gurkan left a reply about a month and a half ago on this forum.
It sort of escalated from there, were people now just percieve this as some sort of Formal challenge.
Alan Wong was even surprised to read about it on the Ax forum.

Didn't Ozkan also KO Dowey while fighting as heavy-weight.
If so, I guess we're up to 8.

very true paul but wasnt it in the second round??? CAn anyone confirm???????????
Andrew P
05-04-2003, 02:28 AM
Paul we are seeing where Gurkan's record 35 first round KO.s came from.:)
I have challenged the Ozkan diehards to name only 10. Should be very easy if there are 35! Heh heh! Anyone who does gets a beer. Janer, if you come up with the 35 I'll buy you the whole bar!

Fair enough Andrew.
First Ozkan fight I saw was against Hallford, so I'm unable to contribute any more names.
andrew p
if any 1 can say who ozkan has stoped in the first round who have you got to back it up if its true or not ??? & if so can he or she name all the fighter he has stoped in round 1 ?
Andrew P

Scotty,
Naming the 35 first round KO wins will be a very hard task since it is not true. As you can see, the biggest Ozkan fan is hard pressed to name 10! We have to wait and see what they announce it as next time he fights, it might have gone up to 40 or back down to 25. Hehe! We're just having a bit of fun buddy.
JANER
05-04-2003, 11:59 AM
Yeah its a bit of fun! I am tellin you Andrew that 99% of all round 1 knockouts were before 1996.. And I was like only 15 in that year... All I remember is that everyfight I went to of ozkans it was almost ALWAYS an early night...
please somebody help me...........
Andrew P
05-04-2003, 02:32 PM
Janer, I have been to nearly evey fight night since 1990. Gurkan's record of 1 round ko's is false hype! lol! Admit it!
There seems to be a lot of friends of Ozkan out there, Why don't some one just ask him..

Fight Stats,
They're only important I think for informing new spectators. As for the rest of us, I don't think we care too much.
I mean we know these guys well enough to know what to expect. Take Behic for example, who cares how many wins and loses. Even when Jenk loses a fight, we still see a better performance than from most who have unblemished records.
andrew p
will this do ???
1.JIM SHANNON
2.MARK MACULLUM
3.MARK MAY
4.JASON MUTIMER
5.KEITH CLEWLY
6.CLAUDE BIONDI
7.EDDIE COMEZ
8.TONY MASSI
9.JIM HARRIS
10.GREG PERRET(TWICE)
there is ten that he has koed in round 1 if you want any more fighters name let me know & im sure michael schiavello can make sure this is right for 1st round ko's so far
andrew p
when will you be in brisbane QLD next so you can give me this beer now

Hey Scottya...
You just want a beer!! LOL... he KO'd Comez in the 6th in Milan and the fights with Mark May both ended by decision not KO. You've put some OLD names in there - man, Justin Mutimer! I remember him!!!! LOL...
As the beer nazi would say "NO BEER FOR YOU!"

Guys - lets slow down a little here
First - I'll state it again Klewy WAS NOT KO'D!!!!
Watch the video!!! - a KO is a KO lights out!!! UnconciouS!!!
He was nowhere near that stage!!!! I am adamant thsi so called KO must be removed - the fight was prematurely stopped!!! - I believe the guy had a tactic and was not given the time or the benefit to execute it!!
Also - he didnt KO Mark May - the first time they fought May won, the second time they fought, Ozkan won on points.
'I'll take your bullet!! (Scarface)
