Didn't really want to ask this here but wanted to ask as I need to get a response for these questions...hopefully someone can help me out?
1. What's the benefit of having a protein shake half hour before and half hour after your workout? I was reading the diet sample from one of the blitz winners and that is what she does?
2. What's a safe heart rate to be working out at? and is there a difference that you should aim at if you're using the treadmill or the x-trainer?
3. What are some good ideas for snacks that combine fibre and protein?
Cheers!

HR zones are dependant on the goals you are aiming to acheieve
fat loss is about 60%-70%
cardiovascular endurance is 70%-80%

Ok thanks.
Do I use the 220 - age to calculate that or is that something else? And yes, I'm aiming at fat loss. Short and intense is good, right?

do you live in brisbane. if so, you should go speak to shaggy at his shop, stronger fitter faster. he knows heaps about that kind of stuff and is usually to happy to give you some advice. the protein shake i know you should be taking right after a work out for recovery, not half an hour after but immediatley, and before hand would depend on you, there is no way i could drink a protein shake half hour before training, i would be burping it up and spew burping everywhere, but that is just me though. if not in brissy then why dont you try do one lesson with a personal trainer, suck them dry for imfomation.

The idea of protein before and after training is to repair/ and build muscle tissue.

Is it okay to have it at about 10.30pm at night, there are some days when I train in the morning and at night, or should I just let it go?

Well I'm no expert but I have been told if you train hard your body needs protein within half hour post workout doesnt matter what time you finish training.........
Perhaps the ladies on the womens forum could help you more they have some really good tips
