thanks J.N.I., I read your set up about the tournament, I'm just amazed at how many tournaments are now going to the 3 round set up, but not keeping with 3 minutes, these guys train this time and many fighters can get thrown out by the change... the first minute of rounds 2 & 3 should be their rest time (if they only train 3mins at their Gym)

as I first said, I honestly hope all goes well with this event and going by your history... it will another amazing show

What a great 8-man, this will be one of the best muay thai shows sydney has seen.
Humble, are you going to rematch Steve? That would be a cracker, 'mate vs mate'!!

Hellfighter, the 8 man K1 3x3min format is hard enough even for the world's top pro's (without grappling and elbows mind you). Many of the lads are young and most <20 fights, so I hardly think 2min rounds are a compromise esp with the final 4 rounds.

'Boys to Men' (or is it Boyz) is a good name, by the time some of the young lads get through the Eliminator, they will all well and truly be men.
Just no boy band intro songs though jni!!

Both those 'wildcards' actually in the 8 man would be awesome.
My early favourites would be Staiti and McTavish but if fischer and colgrave made the 8 then I couldn't pick it. Great experience for young Jeff and Dylan, this 8 man will be extremely entertaining and a big stepping stone for developing this weightclass.

Matt McTavish will be defending his Australian WMC Title on Mark Pease's next show on the coast on Saturday 23/2. Hopefully taking his spot will be Gem from Strikeforce Gym.

It is unfortunate that I have had to cancel what seemed to be a very exciting Eliminator whether it 8 man or even 4 man but the reality of it is that so many people who put their hands up in the beginning just didn't come through. I am happy to say that the only NSW fighter still in it was my own fighter Jeff Llanes and all the 4 Qlder's Mark Staiti, Beniah, Kevin Lay and Duane Sheppard. So to all those fighters that I have mentioned I apologize for the inconvenience and to the rest that came forward with a lame excuse go and take a long hard dive into a paper cup, with water of course.I am pleased to confirm a 5 round FTR bout between Jeff Llanes J.N.I Ringside Gym NSW and Beniah Douma from Mad X Gym QLD will be taking place on the night. I am also looking at bringing down from Nugget's Gym Kevin Lay and Tyson

IMO the 2 fights of the night. Having seen NG fight a couple times, he has improved and shown himself to be a very tough muay thai fighter. Great matchup against Tyson. Here's hoping Sydney can notch one up against the cane toads.

Ditto Jeff, very tough contest, probably his biggest challenge to date and a great reward for his dedicated training. There will be elbows flying aplenty.

Get to the right train station when i get here get in cab & ask to be droped off at the motel

man just got home from the jni show wow what a way to kick off 2008.
there where some BIG KO's tonight and some wars congrats too everyone who took part win or lose.
JNI brilliant show Ithink the guys who pulled out of the eliminator were wise to do so after seeing the coming of age of Jeff Lane with a stunning 1st round ko, the ink wasn't even dry on the score sheet by the time the fight was over.

Big KO for Tyson and unlucky for Nathan.

Jeff Double L LLanes was calm under the storm of Beniah and waited his turn.

Saw Beniah later and he told me he was hit in the right spot which momentarily stunned him enough to lower guard a little and that's when Jeff got the perfect right hook to the temple in.

Unfortunately Beniah was momentarily stunned and then fell flat on his face.

To his credit, he got up and beat the count but the ref sensed something was not right when he checked him out and rightly so as we all saw what happened.

Big Ko to Tony Favuzzi's boy Billy.

Big Ko to Mick Mittiga

War of a fight with Danny Jone's boy who came back strong and with only two fights under his belt was super composed. He got cut pretty bad but was boderline and the crowd was going nuts calling the doc to let it go on. To his credit, his opponent was also super tough. Very close rounds and I had blood splattered on me for this one.

In the end Danny's boy edged it with a great comeback and I got stuck helping the doc do the stitch work haha. Buying me some needle and thread and metho and that should do it lol.

Good fun, big kos and good fights..... oh, and the pimp daddy did the dance for me... woohoo. Speaking of pimp daddy's, Bushi, Scottya was hanging around the wrong area because Ecks was kicking it with the card girls by the end of the night.... mojo was working overtime lollll.

Yeh missed this fight but caught him cutting the day before..... sheeeshhh. He made weight but looked much bigger on the night.

Likewise, another fighter who fought Tamil from Taipan looked massive on the night. He also made weight but I reckon he could of put on 5-8 kilos easy come fight night.

Have to agree with dekker on that on. Who needs a sauna when you can just jump in that dressing room and be sorted in 10 minutes. Along with Thai oil and all those nerves and testosterone flying around does not make for a very pleasant place to be in before a fight.
