If my memory serves me correctly, I think he stopped fighting after he fought Anthony Vella.

The blaster from Doncaster. I thought the ice was king back in the day, couldn't wait to see him climb up the ranks and face off against ian jacobs. unfortunately, he retired after his loss to anthony vella, very early into his professional career after a stellar amateur run. I don't know why, I wished he would've kept fighting, he was awesome. Beat sam soliman, tony hill, anthony lapia (and whatever happened to him?? he was a no show to a couple of solak promotions, and then what happened?), whom he beat in his first pro fight. muay thai just wasn't his style, but I think he was an awesome kickboxer. I'm sure he would've adapted eventually, like Behic. I want another ice age!
I think your right. He lost to Vella at the Radisson and don't think he ever fought again. He took over some family business back then. Last I heard he was a bricklayer. I guess he found it was too difficult to make a living from fighting.
From memory of the old I.K. magazine review, Ice was an excellent Kickboxer but Anthony Vella had the advantage with more knee experience. They fought at a time (early 90's) when muay thai rules were still breaking in, and kickboxing rules were more common in fighters. Ice apparantly did well in the fight but Anthony racked up the etra points with the knees.

Hi guys
Now you're talking about one of my all-time favourite fighters and one of the biggest lingering question marks in Aussie kickboxing history.
THE ICE AGE as Louie's hey-days were known were great indeed... the kid was a martial arts all styles champion who brought his aesthetics into the ring. Back in the day there were no more beautiful and at the same time pulverising fighters to watch than Louie Iosifidis.
He was big... drew huge, fanatical crowds whenever he fought and he could have gone on to be one of the greats, in the mould of Jacobs. Louie had the look, had the moves, had the skill... but then came the fight against Vella at the infamous RUMBLE AT THE RADISSON and everything changed.
Vella, then, was an unknown who held the WKA Australian muay thai middleweight title... nobody knew who Vella was and Louie's camp though he would be easy pickings for Louie's first venture into Muay Thai... they fought under modified Thai rules in what was one of the BEST FIGHTS EVER SEEN - i mean, it was a war!! Vella won the decision... Louie was devastated and the ICE AGE went into meltdown and ended.
Louie beat great names including Lapia and Halford... he was something special.
If I could hope for one comeback I'd say - bring back THE ICE.

Spartan Boy, I suggest trying to get your hands on the rumble at the raddison and Louie's fight against Anthony Lapia for the WKA Australian title. Awesome fight. Michael, I honestly thought Louie was gonna be better than Jacobs. Like you once said, he moves around the ring like he was on "ICE" skates. And he was. What a smooth, unforgettable fighter.
