Hey Hiro
Cool... can you explain to me how this works... does that mean Nish DEFINITELY gets Schilt or, say, Neale can come along and put up $200 for Schilt and thus gets him??
And how does it get divvied up at the end?
Thanks... and welcome to Planet Admin... we have cookies.

Yes, the highest bidder once bidding closes on the 8th has essentially bought that fighter. Anyone can up the ante at any time. At the conclusion of the tournament, the winner e-mails the other participants with their bank account details. I don't think that there has been any problems with non-payment in prior pools.
It adds a bit of fun to the whole thing.

LOL...
I bet backstage with the TV guys from Fuji / FEG... we always have a bet of 1000 yen among, say, 20 of us which makes a nice little pot... they are very technical with their betting system though... you have to pick winner and the round of EVERY fight... it's strange but fun.

I threw the idea out there during the Max auction and it was shouted down. I like the idea of being able to pick up a reserve fighter cheap, but really it's up to everyone else. I am more than happy for reserve fighters to be included, after all it's more money in the pool.

No love for Feitosa yet?
Interestingly, a lot of pundits as time draws nearer are thinking Feitosa can beat Schilt in QF # 2 as they have fought twice and Feitosa's immensely improved boxing skills they feel could back up and trouble Semmy... will be interesting.
"The Voice" Michael Schiavello
Hironaka
15-11-2007, 01:05 PM
Feitosa needs to go balls out to beat Semmy. Schilt gets momentarily rattled when someone puts the pressure on and he is on that back foot (see the Sefo fight). He has the luxury of dropping his hands when disengaging because he is so damn tall it is impossible to reach his head with hands or feet.
Having said that though, it is only a small window of opportunity and Glaube will need to be right on to make the most of it.
admin
15-11-2007, 01:18 PM
Glaube's trainers are the same as Ray's, being Jayson Vemoa and Faii Falamoe at Team Ichigeki... they were smart enough to work out the angles to negate Semmy when Ray fought him in Yokohama, with Ray winning the first round and dropping Semmy with a left hand at the end of the first round... can only wonder what may have been if that knockdown had come earlier in the round and not at the end giving Semmy ample time to recover. It was Ray's own silly mistake in the second round that got him KO'd as he got over-eager and opened his guard and Sem caught him sweet.
No doubt Jayse and Faii will work on Glaube's angles and footwork to try and open up Semmy like Ray did in that first round... and see if they cant capitalise with Glaube's new hands or even a Brazilian kick... now THAT I'd love to see, Sem get dropped with the Brazilian kick!
I think Glaube has great weapons and good size, but it comes down to his MENTAL game and how strong his mind is. Like I have said, you HAVE to back up Semmy to beat him, you have to out-bully the biggest bully of all.

Mo/Chalid is reserve fight #1.
Sefo/Slowiniski is reserve fight #2.

Someone could score big here.
admin
22-11-2007, 10:57 AM
Yeh that's what I'm thinking.
Remy and Badr will war and I think the highest chance of injury will come in that quarter final. Aerts is injury-prone as we all know. And if Choi beats LeBanner and meets Semmy in the semi (LOL) then I'd expect a heavy toll there too.
Be interesting if someone monies Mo.

For the love of Mary I cannot bring myself to throw good money at not-so-Mighty Mo, even if he were to be plonked straight in the Final.
How he and the Mister Fister ever got a gig as first reserve I have no idea.
Hironaka
22-11-2007, 02:02 PM
I'd say Mo got his nod after being so active this year and probably filling last minute gaps here and there. Chalid, despite stinking in last years GP, put on a pretty awesome fight at the elimination show. I have no problem with his spot.
Who would you throw up Voice?
admin
22-11-2007, 03:29 PM
Yep they're the exact reasons why this is reserve fight # 1. Mo has been the busiest fighter on the planet this year, with fights in K-1 GP and in Hero's, so he is getting rewarded here as first Reserve fighter.
I don't think it has so much to do with Chalid, although he is terribly exciting, but moreso a reward for Mo and his big year in 07.

IMO Mo getting a 2nd reserve gig is ample reward for being a B- K1 fighter, busy or not. But who am I to say.
Looks like all the Hari huggers are coming out now that we've stirred the pot a little. Hehe. I'd love to know what Hari is going to weigh in at. If he could beef to 105kgs then he'd be a massive shot.
Hope we get some more bets happening.

i would rate Schilt as even money or slightly below even money vs the field.
So the math currently is;
Schilt = $400
Field = $365
So Schilt is sitting at $1.91 to win (slight below even money)...I think the lads have the odds about right.

Very disappointing.
Maybe next time before an auction we can open up a sportz blitz bank account where people can deposit their respective bets into that account before a certain cut off date with access to it by the Moderators or Admin , who can then tranfer the money to the winners account ,
This way people will have to pay up first to gain entry to the auctions ;);)
