WORLD ranked super bantamweight Nedal "Skinny" Hussein could fight on the biggest boxing event of the year after an invitation was extended to his trainer Jeff Fenech by heavyweight star Mike Tyson.
Fenech, a long standing friend of the controversial American fighter, spoke on the phone yesterday to Tyson who is preparing to challenge dual heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis in Memphis on June 8.

"He asked me if I wanted to get somebody on his card and I told him Hussein Hussein, but he got a little bruised eye in his fight last night, so I'm trying to get Nedal Hussein on his undercard," said Fenech today.

"Mike was great. He just said `tell me what you want, what weight, whatever, it's done for you'."

Ranked in the top ten by three separate organisations, Nedal Hussein has logged 24 wins and one defeat in his professional career.

Hussein Hussein has already fought on a Tyson undercard, in Scotland in 2000.

Successful trainer and former triple world champion Fenech said Hussein Hussein would not fight again before his imminent challenge to new World Boxing Organisation flyweight champion Adonis Rivas.

Nicaraguan Rivas must make a mandatory defence against number one contender Hussein Hussein within 90 days.

Hussein Hussein extended his unblemished professional record to 19 wins, 15 by KO, with a unanimous eight round points win over Sande Kizito in Gosford last night.

"The world title fight is around the corner, we don't want to take any risks so it was our last one prior to the title," Fenech said.

"We didn't try knocking him out, we wanted to get some rounds and try some different things."

Concerned by the quality of opposition and sparring partner Hussein Hussein has had, Fenech said he wanted to import someone in the lead up to help in his world title shot which will be in Britain or the United States.

He said he would arrange for an imported sparring partner when he returned from Las Vegas, where his unbeaten super middleweight Danny Green will fight on the undercard to Kostya Tszyu's world title defence on May 18.

Fenech said Green would fight American journeyman Steve Fisher in an eight-round bout.
