I honestly believe that Evan has the capability to outpoint Stanley.

Also, it should be a good test of Headhunter's chin.
Evan can hit bloody hard. Nine KO's out of 10 fights is pretty impressive.

Regarding Evan's perfect record.
I'm not sure which of the forums it was, but someone posted saying that they had fought Evan in Perth and either won or drew.

Was it Daren Curovic?
Someone please clarify if you can.
It's no big deal to such an impressive record, but still it's nice to stay on top of these things whenever possible.

I read somewhere that evan's record was 10-1. I just think that they conveniantly posted his results on the fight poster as 10-0. I guess it could have been a type error.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>

Remy,
You've seen them both fight before.....who do you reckon?

I think it can go either way. Hard to decide. I haven't seen Nandex's chin really tested yet, and Evan is a strong puncher. So we will probably find out how good a punch Nandex can take.

I'm still not that excited about this fight being the main event.

I think Evan will win if he can keep his hands up!

I hope evan wins Nandex is getting a big big for his boots plus i always back the aussie.. would love to see nandex against CORBETT or SLOWINSKI but that would never happen Tarik only sets his boys with oppenents that he knows he can win.. execpt jenk.

Yeah Paul It was Curovic that was posted as the person who beat themlakis. Themlakis will overwhelm Nandex who has never faced as hard a hitter as themlakis. Themlakis all the way.

Dont get me wrong nandex is a good fighter , from the first time i saw him fight to the last his hands hs inproved alot but his fitness hasnt changed much. It suprised me to see him as a main event , its like tariks giving him this big push trying to make him the next big super star of kickboxing, hes good ,but not that good!!!
I think evan could take him he hits hard an has a good work rate.
plus i think there will be to much pressure on nandex from tarik to get the big K.O head kick!!!!

Seth

I am sure I read somewhere than Stanley has already fought Nandex? I know as an amateur he lost the WKA Nsw light-heavy title a few years ago to one of Rick Kulu's boys. I think the guy was too tall for him to get a head kick in!

Hi sethridge
When I was training Stanley he fought Nathan Corbett on one of Jimmy Cass shows up in Queensland. He took the fight on about nine days notice. He lost a very close points decision. He just run out of steam in the last two rounds. I think the longer the fight goes the more chance Evan has of winning as long as he keeps his hands up.
Dowgy is right about Stan losing a fight to Carl Sullivan, the only problem with that fight was I wasn't told that while Stan was in P.N.G four weeks before he had a case of Malaria and hadn't full recovered. I was told about the Malaria by his former manager about an hour after the fight. I suppose that is why he is his former manager. Now that he is training with Paul Fyfeild I am sure that he will be working on Stan's conditioning.

i wouldn't say that stanley's overrated - where is the build up leading to?? one of these days he's going to have a tough fight and he will have to prove that there is more to fighting than a "simple head kick".

Very True Bullet, I totally agree with you.

But damn they're impressive when they happen.

I have seen both of these guys fight quite a few times and i think Evan will give Stanley the longest sleep in centre ring that we have seen for a while. I love to watch Stanley's head kicks and i think he is a gentleman of the sport, however there is only one thing better than watching a gentleman fight and that is - a bigger gentleman knocking him out. Evan has some of the hardest hands in the business, but like with the Stan Vs Gurkan fight, never underestimate the other guy. Evan has some mighty kicks of his own- both low and high and if Headhunter leaves his hands down for 1 second it will be good night!

Good luck to Evan in this fight, i hear he trains very hard and it is great see another western suburbs boy pushing the big time!

From all the marsh boys!

I think he is having a go at qualifying for the K1 Oceania with the other heavy weights.

remy

There are a few heavyweights advertised but only four can be in the qualifying tournament. This might be the first show of Tarik's I have missed in years.

I believe there will be TWO four-way threat tournaments with the two winners qualifying for the Oceania final.
But will update you when I know more.

Michael Schiavello,

Is it true mate that AGAIN, Nathan Briggs is back fighting in this K1 Oceania qualifier?
He has retired many times, but still has age on his side!
I just want to know if you can let me know if it is true or an advertising stunt - as it is a pretty good line up.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi guys

YES this will be a Fox Sports show. The next issue of International Kickboxer will have an advertisement with all the show dates on it (as I am not sure myself yet).

As for the rest of the card, it is still being pieced together as there will be a number of heavyweight qualifying bouts. For the moment -- as announced on tariksolak.com.au -- Peter Graham will fight Chris Chrisopoulidis and Paul Slowinski is definitely fighting. I believe Tony Antoniou could also be on the card (not heavyweight, of course) and Evan takes on Headhunter in the main event. Stay tuned to Tarik's website for more details as further fights are matched.

Thanks for that Mike, its shaping up as quite a good card, I give Evan a big chance of pulling an upset on Nandex with those heavy hands in the main event.

Also Mike with the report on more K-1 shows being aired on PPV, are we going to see the upcoming K-1 Saitama? *Fingers crossed*

That would be awesome Sapp Vs Cro Cop, also Sefo, Aerts, Hoost etc are fighting on the same card.

Hi Pieman

You know at first a lot of people weren't too keen on this main event -- EVAN vs HEADHUNTER -- but the more it builds up the more it is shaping up to be anybody's fight. I wouldn't call it an "upset" if Evan beats Headhunter... in fact, I'd even say that given his experience Evan would probably go in as favourite. It's just that Headhunter has had the fortunance of television exposure over the last year while Evan has not, but Evan has certainly been almost unstoppable. Both men have excellent knockout power: Evan has it in his hands and his head kicks which are one of his more unsung weapons, and as we have seen Headhunter is just an awesome specimen of headkicking off both legs! It really could go either way... it's a hard one to call and I think will make for an intriguing contest. I believe that Headhunter will need to skill up on his lateral footwork and his hands quite a bit more to face Evan and not be so stagnant as he has been -- although the headkick is his trademark and it's what everyone waits for, he can't solely rely on this weapon of choice to do the dirty work every time.

Evan will be Team Ultimate's headliner this year so there is a lot of expectation on him. He also has a HUGE following, if you have been to see him fight in Melbourne's mighty western suburbs he is known for bringing the house down. It will be interesting to have two great trainers in Scida and Fyfield in the respective corners as I respect both these trainers and tactically two of the best in the business.

As for the PPV Saitama show, I know that New Zealand audiences will get it through SKY TV and will let you know about Main Event if it's a go.

Cheers
