Janer, I believe the higher purse local fighters get between $3000 - $5000.

I'm not going to name any names at all, but I was shocked that some big name fighters were getting as little as $1000 for fights away from their home crowds.

We've seen bigger purses for 'Winner Take All' of course. And Eliminators.

These are great value for crowds, but I'm personally totally against it, and believe that it's wrong a star fighter go home with nothing more than his injuries.

Why better for the spectator?
As a marketing stragegy, I think it gives the audience higher anticipation that the fight is going to be an all out war. You know, 'They're going to try and win with every ounce of their being', otherwise, all that pain and sacrifice is for nothing going home with an empty wallet.

Oh yes, of course, the posetive side. It's all experience.

Lets hope that purses will grow proportionately as this sport keeps growing eg like Solak's K-1 Oceania prize monies.

I actually heard a while ago that it can be as low as $500!! and thats for a respected fighter not an undercard fighter. Depends too on the promoter. There's no real money in Kickboxing/Muay Thai unless you are a superstar!

from what i have heard the only fighters in oz to have made a good living out of this sport is stan, hunt and greco. i know of local fighters fighting in k1 tournaments getting $500!!! local champions $3000 max for a main event!

In the Supa 8 held in brisbane recently, Soren got paid $10,000 for winning. Gotta be close to a record in QLD?

Like I said in a previous topic - we need promoters to put the money back into the fighters! forget the Tarik I'm the best promoter bull**** with fireworks etc and give the boys something for their efforts - otherwise the majority of them will switch to boxing, as there is more money in it, meaning fewer decent kickboxers/Mui Thai fighters and ****ter shows
some of the names who have switched to boxing:
Petridis / Briggs / Soliman /

Janer - my sources tell me the following

Stan $100k
Ozkan $50k

Only Tarik, the boys and the bank know the truth - but the above would be pretty close to the mark

krama,i thought it would of been 100k for the three fight contract he had with tarik.if not surely that purse would have to be one of the highest paid in kickboxing excluding k1 in the world.if i'm wrong does that mean he would of got 300k for the three fights?

I actually thought the same as Bob. The talk was of six figures for a three fight deal, though, those six figures could have started with a 3.
