Buakaw = Masato's biatch!

Great fight with masato scoring great rnd 1 KD, straight punch. I can't believe how buakaw fought on the inside in basically a boxing fight. Masato was brilliant and sharp. I bet Hiro has a little woody about now!
I scored 10-8, 10-10, 10-9 to Masato but beware he took a lot of leg punishment.

Very very disappointing for Zambo. After losing rnd 1 he came back well and levelled for extension but then had nothing. Artur got a load of good knees in and got the rnd 4 decision. I thoughjt Zambo would do it after that rnd 3.

Man what a show!!! A sell out of 14,230... and did they go off!!

MASATO vs BUAKAW was off the hook... man... I was commentating with Ray Sefo and Mike Bernardo and we were like little kids, I have NEVER heard Ray that excited!! It was just an awesome spectacle and when he dropped Buakaw, well **** me, the place went nuts.

For me Zambo was the most disappointing, which is a pity as I had him as my dark horse but he just couldn't bring it...

SOOOOO glad to see Masato OWN Buakaw... like Neale said, Buakaw was Masato's ***** for that fight BIG TIME!!!

jump on YouTube and watch Rnd 1 of the Buakaw/Masato fight. This has got to be one of the best rounds of K1 Max ever seen.
Buakaw was all over Masato until that KD and then Masto owned him for the rest of the fight. Quite a remarkable turnaround from a single punch.

Very hard to claim one of these guys is better than the other...I'm just glad Souwer didn't meet either of them fresh.

I just watched the Souwer/Masato final, HUGE punishment inflicted to Masato's leg. Check the 2 deadleg knees in the clinch that Souwer basically cripples Masato with near end Rnd 2...after that it was curtains.

These formats don't necessarily see the best fighter winning, but moreso the smartest with best tactics and durability.

I don' tthink I've ever seen Buakaw fight like that, he seemed to continuosly wlk in with his hed down, and walked into Masato's hands..

Take nothing away from Masato, but thta was a different tactic, that did not work, for Baukaw..

he knew the legs could potentially put masato down, but not out.
he was closing the range solely trying to go for the KO. u can see this wen he takes a few short combos from masato in a row without retaliating. fair call to fight like that in the last round when you're 3 points behind but he definitely should have used his legs more in rnd 2 particularly. Those leg kicks were brutal in rnd 1!!!

yes, that's one of the first comments I made last night saying how Buakaw kept wanting to trade on the inside. Ridiculous tactic IMO when this guy has the best chopping and push kicks in the world and can dominate fights with kicks alone and hardly need to throw leather. Buakaw has great hands but nowhere as good as Masato's.

he has definitely left his trademark kicks in thailand for this tournament.. i must admit masato was on the money, earned that win and despite buakaws 'poor' showing, he was still no walk over by any means.. any other of those fighters against buakaw (apart from souwer) and he wuld have gotten thru to the semis.

I gotta agree with you Hiro, maybe my initial comment that Buakaw was Masato's b1tch was a little too strong (just a little) but that is exactly what Shiv said at the time too and upon watching it again still believe. He upset Buakaw's rhythm so badly with clean head shots. It is ridiculous to suggest anything other than Masato beat him fair and square under K1 rules on the night.

There may well have been, but many fighters carry injuries into fights as you know. Masato also was nursing a bad hand injury going into the GP.
