id like to pose a question to these guys who didnt give gurkan a hope in hell of beating stan and who after the fight turned around and made excuses for stans loss instead of congratulating the person who beat "the man".what really makes me laugh is that for weeks leading up to the fight everyone was saying how stan would A) out box B)out kick C)dictate when the fight would end , as he was too classy for the challenger ozkan but i suppose u all fell for stans words of " who does he think he is to come into my office and take from me what i have achieved in this sport, i will show him why i am king" speach.i would just like to ask all these guys mentioned (sorry if i missed anyone)what more has to be done in ur eyes for him to be recognised as a credible fighter?

This isnt anti stan or pro gurkan what im trying to state is people bag fighters (gurkan)(or anyother fighter) however when these guys win
as did gurkan on feb 17 nothing good was mentioned however we just heard excuses of how stan was finished, not fit, too old.this has happened to other fighters as well bout time fighters were given there rightful dues!!

hmm. Is it innaccurate to say Stan looked terrible? did he not look like crap? I doubt anybody expected Stan to be THAT useless. i think it was obvious old Stan is so over the hill he has begun entering the next suburb an its fair that people noticed that. Even Ozkan back-patter Janer was moved to say Stan never should have returned to he ring. Lets not beat round the bush, if Stan was at his best (impossible now) what would have happened? We can be realistic or delusional. Ozkan won and deservedly so Stan would have lost to most any top fighter from supemiddleweight upwards, Ozkan probably did Stan a favor by showing him these comebacks are useless. Onwards Ozkan.

I would check your records before making comments on my behalf; I am a huge Gurkan fan and have made many good comments on Gurkan, although I did believe Stan would win the best man won on the night.

Word is it was Stan who went out of his way to promote and hype and help Gurkan get on the world stage some years back and win his first title in Begium or Italy or wherever it was. Whenever I was at an Ozkan fight I see Stan cheering him on and vice versa when Stan fights. You believe this enemy/disrespect rubbish??? hahaha!

I have some great pictures of them embracing that I've been holding back on because of the conspiracy theory Bull****.

Stan even went on to tell Gurkan that he has a picture of them both together on his website. The same pic I shot at K-1 Max 2001 which you may have seen in the Age on the weekend of the fight. Gurkan then told Stan he also has the picture at home. So, they acted like freinds prior, and Ozkan also spoke of the Respect he has for Stan a couple of days later.

QUPNCY, I think that you have to actually sit down and read what people write before you accuse them of anytning! Now I will ask you a question, when on this message forum have I either bagged Gurkan or said anything against him! If you read some of the posts I wrote, you will actually see that I was one of the first people to congratulate him! I only stated that I thought that Stan would win, that is all. I am entitled to give my prediction! I also did not bag Stan, in the same post that I congratulated Gurkan I also said something positive about Stan! These fighters do have feelings, they are human beings! This is why I only predict who I think would win, I never and will never make any remarks which I think are to offensive! It is people like you who get hot and run their mouths on this forum that start all this arguing! From what I have seen you are not making many friends on this forum, you have made a few enemy's! And when they tell you off you become gutless and apologise! Just think before you accuse anyone! If you write back and start arguing, I will humiliate you by quoting a few of these incidents! The question that surrounded this fight was that if stan still had it after 20 + years in the sport and with a 2 year lay off! The question was supposedly answered on the night. Stan did nothing! I predicted that if stan did infact still have what made him the best, he would break gurkan up! but i still have my suspicians about this fight. its all about the $$! now stan might have made more money on top of that $100,000 and gurkan might of made more $$ on top of his $5 or $10,000???? We will never know!

QUPUNCY - I think I see your point in your opening topic. You apparently a strong Ozkan follower from how long ago.. and felt insulted no-one gave him a chance to win.

Fair enough - People said that about Holyfield, Jones Jr etc.. but there's no need to scroll through this forum and list a heap of us who gave their opinion on who would win 'No Respect'.

Good on you.. seriously, for backing your man - but just dont take it as an insult. (Unless I guess some of the users on your list were dissin Ozkan), I know I wasn't. I've met the guy a couple of times and my 'respect' for Ozkan is only growing.

QUPNCY - please note I have enormous respect for Ozkan - I actually wrote a congrat's note when he won and stated we should give him credit for what he has achieved!! go back and check the threads!
I will say initially I held little hope for Ozkan - but I was expecting the Stan of old not the unfit Stan I saw that night.
Again if you check the threads I stated a week before the fight about my reservations for Stan winning - a key reason being he was sparring with his brother!! Hail Mary and may Sadam be a virgin but there is no way you would be sparring with Stans brother George in preparation for a fight against Ozkan!!
Anyway - I look forward to seeing Ozkan in action again -
