Hey all, just wandering if anyone can help out with a bit of advice.
My GF has had some knee problems over the last couple yrs, has had arthroscope(spelling) and lateral release, no the doctor reckons she needs some Bullsh1t graft.
Just wandering if anyone can suggest some training & strengthening techniques. she is unable to do anything high impact at the moment, maybe you have had bad knee probs and can advise.

i did my knee 2 years ago on the rugby feild bro do alot pool work and alot of vitamens is good for it to maybe some light weights like those ankle/wrist weights but when using the weights do full movements but very slow ones but alot of pool work is probaly the best option

Yeah I agree with Kiwi and Kingwaa. 3 years ago I tore my MCL and couldn't run I was told by the surgeon that I needed an operation. I didn't do it and brough a bike instead and learnt to swim and started taking glucosamine.

Theres growing research that closed kinetic chain exercises are better for knee rehabilitation than open kinetic chain exercises.
CKC basically means that your foot is planted on something and is not left open in the air to move. OKC is the opposite.
Example of ckc would be the squat, or leg press
Example of okc would be the leg extention.
Research also shows that doing a combination of both would be helpful.
It depends on the severity of the injury but a good sports med practioner would determine the suitability of the exercises and work with regaining functional strength in the area that would incorporate as much functional rehab as possible.
For things like this, it is best to ask professional sports med docs rather than to just go off advice of others who have suffered the same injury. Spending a little more on someone is also helpful in the long run.
Getting a check up from a chiropractor for knee tracking and imbalances is also helpful.
You need to formulate a good network of intelligent therapists and doctors. May cost you a little more initially but will cost you less in the long run.
Just because she is doing a CKC exercise, it doesn't mean it has to be high impact. Doing eccentrics is also very good initially. Pool work is great as kiwibouncer already stated and doing the CKC's in the pool is great.
It is also a good idea to be as detoxed as possible and refrain from unclean meats, pesticide, preservative and additive filled food and eat as raw and organic as possible.
Get your good fats such as seafood based, nuts, avocadoes, olive oil etc and plenty of high quality protein through lean meats, dairy and also seafood. Fruit and veges to replace starches as much as possible and plenty of water.
Most people slow down their recovery because of diet without being aware.
