JWP is one of my favourite fighters and I'd favour him to win but I wouldn't write Scerri off. I respect him for stepping up. He believes in himself and that goes a long long way in the ring.

Whats funny is that no one thinks Scerri has got a chance, where as when Foley fought JWP, some people were tipping Foley.

With all do respect to Foley, I think Scerri is tougher and is hungrier! Now I honestly don't think he's done himself a favor with some of the trash talk thats gone on around here, JWP is definitely gonna respond to it and try to knock Scerri out. But hey, we all know the "Mauler" can take a hit or two. He's gonna be fit as, hungry, and determined to show he can mix it up with the best.

Don't count Scerri out, or only give him props for having nuts the size of King Kong. He's gonna bring it and I think will have an awesome fight with Australia's best muay thai fighter.

So when does this anniliation happen?

I respect Scerri for getting in the ring with Australias best but shouldnt he be fighting other fighters in his weight division before doing so? Everyone is forgetting, JWP is in the Contender fighting the worlds best and also being trained by the worlds best. To come back here from that he's going to be sharper than ever. And as Ron said there was alot of size difference too. I'll tip JWP all the way for this one. But good luck to both fighters

jabout
13-09-2007, 12:00 PM
getonboard who do you suggest Scerri fights in his weight divison ???

for thoes people who think JWP will KO Scerri your in for a surprise...

as for the weight difference - do you think JWP is the only one who cuts weight in the fight game? The agreed weight is 72kgs. Jason Scerri walks around at 75,76kgs so they will both be cutting weight to get down to 72kg.

JWP will have to stay around 70kgs for the Contender, we all know how quickly he can put weight back on though, when he eats, but still - I dont see there being much difference on fight night.

Ron Burgandy
13-09-2007, 12:06 PM
Ron here...How bout Scerri fight anyone walking around at 72 OTHER than JWP. Preacher, Soren, Eli, Frank Georgi, Andrew Keogh, Pixie, Shaggy, Gurkov and the list goes on.

We are not talking weight Jabout, we are talking size. Sorry mate, I know he is your fighter and you will back him all the way, but I can see something similar happening like what happened to soren when he fought JWP

quote: But hey, we all know the "Mauler" can take a hit or two.
True ECKS but he hasnt been hit by someone of the likes of JWP!!

most of those people fight full Thai rules, Jason prefferes K-1 rules and matching them would be a problem, if Jason wants to fight Wayne good on him but 5 rounds would have been better to watch, but over 3 rounds i think Jason has a chance of an upset, it should suit his style of fighting should be a decent scrap while it lasts!

Ron Burgandy
13-09-2007, 12:17 PM
Ron here....True they fight FTR but cmon, you dont think one of those guys arnt capable of fighting for 3 rounds without throwing a elbow?? Dekker are you serious?? Umm JWP has fought K-1 max. So saying that it suits scerri's style of fighting is well, silly. If anything the only thing that suits scerri is the venue

Thank you dekker!! You mentioned the exact reasons why I think this could be close. It's k-1 rules not FTR not that tht doesn't suit JWP and its being fought over 3 rounds. Anything can happen

Hi Ron Jason here...lol

as i mentioned in a previous post, JWP was the only one willing to take the fight under k1 rules.

Preacher = I spoke to preacher and he wasnt keen to fight JS under K1 rules - his words were that he just got rolled by Daniel Dawson under K1 rules and wanted twice the purse of JWP.

Soren = only fights FTR

Eli = only fights FTR

Franki Georgi = only fights FTR - they were set to fight on the last Explosion under FTR but Jason broke his hand.

Andrew Keogh = only fights FTR (and only WMC)

Pixie = only fights FTR

Shaggy = injured

Gurkov = not in the Country (plus Jason has already fought him, FTR)

As you saw in the promo clip - Jason prefers K1 Rules and as this is a show promoted by his trainer, in his home town, then he got to set the rules. Its no secret that Jason has his sights set on Japan. HOME OF K1. Jason does fight FTR, but his preference and focus is K1 Rules.

JWP was the only one who would who would accept this fight with Jason.

I think Jason is a very talented guy and very fast...if he remains mobile and does not get cornered then i think he will put up a very good fight.
It is frightening however that JWP is still a top 8 K1 fighter and as such he should comfortably win, but I can see the fight going a little like the Foley fight (minus the Parr KD).
The lad will get a hiding but he will be a better fighter out the other side and JWP will not be fighting for ever so I think this is a bold and rare opportunity that he and Jab have accepted. Respect.

Ron here....Fair enuff, he wants to go to Japan. But its clearly obvious that if Jason cant get a fight at K1 rules then he has to consider fighting more FTR to get more oppenents. Because as you clearly stated quote: getonboard who do you suggest Scerri fights in his weight divison ???There is a shortage of ppl for him to fight k1 but alot of guys willing and able to fight FTR

Im Ron Burgandy, go f*@k yourself San Diego

getonboard
13-09-2007, 12:44 PM
Isnt that a big indication that he should start fighting FTR more? Each to his own but MOST of the top fighters in Australia fight FTR. Or does he not care about fighting in Australia? Cause like you said, everyone fights FTR, so who else is there to fight? Also thats Jason's preferred style, but JWP has fought K1-Max and fought some of the best in the world. Either way i think it'll be a great learning curve and i've meant no disrespect to Jason. All i'm trying to say is that it might be a little early in his career to fight JWP(as was sorens), but a good experience none the less.

Boys FTR is not the be all and end all of combat sports.

And as i said Jason does fight FTR. I'm sure everybody remembers his devestating elbow KO over Yoshi.

But this is my show, my boy, so he gets the choice and the choice is K1 rules.

Dont get me wrong - I LOVE Full Thai Rules, I LOVE Thailand, some of my best friends are Thai and i'm passionate about Muay Thai - but this is Jason's choice and he wants to fight K1 Rules and I fully understand and support his decision.

All those boys you mentioned - their ambition is probably to fight in Lumpini Stadium, or fight on the Kings Cup - and Jason would love that too - but ultimately Jason wants to fight in Japan.

I wonder why Buakaw - the best pound for pound fighter in the world - didnt go on the Contender? Because he didnt want to give up his spot in K1 Max!

3 rounds goes so quick. If anyone gets one knock down its a hard comeback.. i dont think parr is ready to give up his spot on top of aussie muaythai. Jason will take it up to him, but at this stage i dont think he will have what it takes..
the thing about jwp is he is a wrecking ball.. he will just come straight through you and theres not alot you can do about it. In the same token he can switch it up and pick u apart technically. One of his best assets is closing the gap while staying tight in defence and when he lets fire, not much comes back in return. Not to mention he can take a hit as good as the best of them.

but. its the fight game, nefin can happen.
jason knows what he's in for, so he's prepared for war.
will be a good fight =]

I've defiantly taken all your comments on board and this will only make me stronger at being able to pick out his bad habits. Thanks again for the support!

good luck to you jason, i take my hat off to you for stepping up.
you have everything to gain and nothing to loose.

it is true that ftr is not the be all and end all of fighting, and k1 max has proved that ...

you dont know how good you are till you fight someone like jwp.

preacher did it twice , soren did it, but still people jump on thier band wagon for beating old thais and looking good abroad, they couldnt bring home the bacon here though

lets face it you can have 30 fights underfeated and never face a top quality opponent , thats only kidding yourself and you groupies.

go for it kid , even if you loose you can still say you fought australia's best.

but if you win ,'YOU BEAT WAYNE PARR AT HIS BEST . ...

Sorry to post late about this, I was just looking at another forum, the Contender weight is 72 maybe even 73? So, I am guessing when JW gets out he will be as big as he went in, so he will be much bigger than Jason, especially because he will be super fit. I really noticed the weight difference in the interviews.

could it be something so simple as: JWP looks bigger on this interview purely because he is obviously sitting quite a lot closer to the camera than Scerri? just a thought...

should be an easy night at the office then for JWP. All this prep - size advantage - should have no excuses then huh!

Seth_2

if only it was that easy kbgirl =P
i believe parr will win, and scerri will learn from it and become a better fighter from the experience.
but its the fight game, its never so simple
and nefin can happen.. it only takes one hit and in a 3 round fight its hard 2 come back..

im hoping that jason puts up a hard fight against wayne, but i know if i was jase i would be working on a definate game plan!! good luck to scerri though dont hold back, no respect!! you've got nothing to lose... except mabey some teeth lol jokes good luck man<img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>
