Stan V Anthony "The Ant" Elmore Rematch?

Hey guys, I just watched the Stan The Man Versus Anthony "The Ant" Elmore last night.

If you cant remember the fight, it was at the sports and entertainment centre about 8yrs ago. The opponent was a black american who held the World Super Middle Weight title. He wore tracksuit trousers instead of trunks.

It was a bizarre fight where only a minimum of 8 kicks were allowed only "above" the waist!!! stupid rules... Anyways, stan had the decision but did only land a handfull of clean punches. His kicks were in-effective as the american out scored stan every single round!! Darren Hedcock, Tosca and nick talkouris was on the card aswell.

At the end of the fight the result was plain bullcrap. Like the commentator said, "we all want Stan to win, but we dont see him the victor". Stan won a split decision I think the cards for stan were 112-16 & 112-118 and jemal hasan scored 119-117 for the american. Those scores were all over the place.

At the end of the tape, we saw stan at a press conference and he said he released the belt and there will be a rematch....

DID this rematch take place??? thanks guys

geez Janer this goes way back. This was 13 years ago, the tall black dude was Super Heavyweight champion under above waist rules (not super middleweight like you said!), and the fight was under he old American Full Contact rules. Very tactical figh but boring as piss, both guys were kind of just touching eachother with kicks and Stan was the only one trying to trade with punches, the black dude was a bit intimudated. Your right, Elmore was busier with kicks but they were like love taps, no power. Stan tried to force the fight. He won a split decision I believe. Stan vacated the title because he wasn't satisfied with his performance, which I think showed class on his part of give up something so sought after, under the agreement of a rematch but there never was one!

id love for stan to smash that loud mouth! the last time elmore fought was a couple of years ago where he got k.oed by alexio in the 12th round cold! this is what i dont get. stan defeated elmore and became australias first world champion(1990), but later relinquished the title because he said he wanted to rematch him and beat him properly. the rematch never eventuated. but stan did win the fight and became australias first world champion! i have heard on several occasions where mike shiavello would state that alex tui...bla..bla..australias first world champion....bla..bla..whats the deal with that? alex tui won his first world title in 1991!

Stathis, you're right, that's why I consider Stan Australia's first ever world champion, even if it was for that KICK title (I think). That's the fight where Stan peppered Elmore with foot to foot sweeps,right?? which were legal, but Elmore complained they were low kicks. That was hilarious. Stan won, but it's a mute point now. So why am I posting?? Strange.
