Lachlan Stewart pulls out on the night!

Im posting this on behalf of my trainer Matt Spooner (who just cant work the internet out!)




For the record, less than 1 hour before Lachlan Stewart & Otto Merlings Fight (during our warm up)-Lachlan Stewart entered our change room and said he would not fight due to injury-his trainer Tony F. from Taipan Gym, nor John from JNI, to my knowledge, had any idea of this, as we had spoken on several occasions already that night! I had also said hello to Lachlan earlier that night and he said nothing!
As you can imagine we were amazed and Otto was extremely disappointed-and I am sure that the people that paid good $`s on the night to support us feel the same.
I would like to apologise to the people who came to show us support-hopefully Lachlan will apologise as well.

Otto is very keen to fight at 76-80 kg full thai rules if anyone is interested.

yes i would love to fight him and dimslim i am assuming you know him quite well seeing as you know why he pulled and only a few people do. well believe it or not i do as well. and based on what i am told i am standing by my "softcockitis" comment.

To Sniper and everyone else that want to knw why Lachlan didnt fight,
All i wanna say is that Lachlan was declared by the Doctor unfit too fight due to reasons that i wouldnt like to discuss soo thats why Lachlan didnt fight, i would like to leave this conversation at that and not make a bigger deal out of this coz Lachlan isnt a "SOFTCOCK" as you all know he has taken on Australia's best muay thai fighters in his weight.

so you answer me this one question......at the weigh in of every fight(as im sure you know being a fighter) there is a doc present to give you a medical clearance. why was the fight not stopped the day before?????????? ur excuse is rubbish but i will leave it there anyway.

At the end of the day Lachy was ruled unfit to fight. I'm not going to elaborate on how, or what, but as a friend I'd rather see him sit it out than take the local anesthetic that was offered to him to allowing him to go ahead and potentially risk further injury and time off fighting. He trained like an animal for that fight and is extremely disheartened with the whole situation.

Sniper, where do I start? It seemed you were so ready to go full thai with Lachlan before you saw what he did to Erik (who does not carry on like a tool like yourself), yet changed your tune very quickly.
Lachy fighting Kickboxing is yesterday's news mate, he hasn't fought it for years, and isn't afraid of an elbow. Are you?

Everyone who steps into the ring is a warrior in MOST peoples eyes, yet here we have yourself using the term "softcock" to describe a fighter that competes in a league that involves more chance of getting hurt, with more weapons that what you fight in!

Please, save whatever credibilty you have and keep your misguided comments to yourself. It's good to have fighters on this forum, but you're better off staying offline if all you plan to do is create hype for youself, or build bad blood between someone than you don't even know.

So were the 20 friends that came to support Lachlan, but whats done is done, and despite the mishaps of the night, it was still a great show. I apologise on Lachlan's behalf, he still wants to fight to his potential, though at 35 can't afford to make a decision that could end his career, and taking a dive is something that does not exist in his book either.

i have never chosen or even considered to fight full thai before in my life. i never once thought about fighting him in full thai regardless of whatever he did to erik so it sounds like ur facts are a little messed up as well. and if you need proof then ask john and voice (the promoters of that particular show ur referring too). as far as ruining my credibility then step up and take the fight at modified thai. i tell you what ask him if he wants a tri-style fight. first round ring karate, 2nd round kickboxing, 3rd round full thai!!!
the only reason why i want to fight him is because i know exactly why he pulled out and know that he was not at all told he could not fight by the doctor. If ur his mate then fine i hope you enjoyed paying the entry fee for the fight night cos there were plenty of other people that stood up and fought like warriors. as far as him wanting to fight to his potential. well he is going to be hard pushed to get another scrap on jni's show that im sure of.
now go bad mouth someone else as what you think of me is beyond my care factor completely.

because a public forum is not the right place to discuss these things

plus why get involved in other people's business...i'm sure the parties involved are all adults and can work things out themselves. no one needs to explain or justify themselves on here.

NG u are right buddy. what i was getting at was that i was not running scared of him because of whatever he did to eric like it was suggested b4. both neale and john told me i was not allowed to fight full thai until i had trained and prepared for elbows. i am simply saying im the first to admit this is a style i have never trained in nor attempted so why could we not have met on a more neutral ground like modified thai.

Just wanted to comment on what people are saying about "what Lachlan did to Erik"? We fought full thai rules and he cut me with an elbow. The fight was stopped as the cut was deep? That was all, these are the rules we fight under and we are all aware of it. No big deal! Just like the fight before where I cut Lachy with a knee in the 8Man.
I'd fight Lachy again no drama? He's actually not a bad fella to be fair so I am not like calling him out or anything just seems like people think he retired me or something ha ha!!

As for Chris, he too is a warrior and I don't think the sight of a little of my blood would put him off fighting anyone given the legends he has fought and continues to fight both in Australia and Europe.

I think if Chris and Lachy want to fight you have to meet in the middle. Lachy is FTR and Chris is a Kickboxer so modified Thai maybe on a Nick Stone show or somewhere impartial like that would be best?
