It is quite funny, seeing Zambidis is much taller and heavier than Ozkan!!! Ha Ha. But seriously if Ozkan dropped 8kg and Zambidis put on 8kg it could happen, but I doubt it. It would be interesting though!!

If he gets in close to Ozkan he has a strong chance, one advantage he has is that because of his size, there is very little target area to hit cleanly and he could be very awkward to fight. It would be a unpredictable fight for Ozkan to take on.

I heard this from a good mate who is close with Zambidis, and was with him backstage after the fight. Apparently Zam grabbed Gurkan and said "Gurkan, I'll teach you respect" or something along those lines. This is what I have been told and am not 100% sure if true, the only one who could confirm is Gurkan, if he wants to post a reply.

Zams weight is around the 69 - 70 kg mark. But I've spoken with Zam and he is more comfortable around the 75kg mark, which I think is his natural weight off season. I am sure this fight would be possible as Gurkan can fight around the 80kg mark.
This sounds like a real challenge, can't wait!
Also, heard Schiavello say on the PPV that Tibor Vermes is making a comeback. The kid dubbed Mr Perfect, would be good seeing a rematch against Gurkan. Looks like Gurkan is gonna have a busy schedule, good luck to him, I am sure he will do well.

Completely untrue. Mike is a good friend of mine and i can assure you he didnt say anything to gurkan, hell he cant even speak english properly! So please stop making stories up to create hype. Now as far as zam fighting gurkan there has been a rumour but thats all. mike is focused on the k1 so there is no time for him to waste on these rumours. Too much at stake

G'day Seth, I'm not sure of his age and I don't think he has fought Muay thai/kickboxing since he fought Behic. He has been boxing for a while now and recently destroyed Nick Lundh for a victorian title, he also fought Sam Soliman and got beaten in the fight before. He fights JWP in April and this boxing bout should be a scorcher! Cope has improved his boxing skills since he fought Sam, and about JWP, what can I say about this man, he can do it all! What's interesting is taking it from the promotors viewpoint for the success of future shows. Would Tarik want to risk damage to one fighters stocks by elevating the other fighter. At the moment Zam and Ozkan are Tariks greatest assets. They rule different weight divisions, and often feature on the same show, drawing good crowds.

If they met, and one knocked the other out, would it greatly decrease the marketability of that losing fighter? Or would the fight elevate both if it was a war?

Would love to see the fight happen, just interesting to think about it's effect on future shows, good or bad.
What do you guys/gals think?

Gurkan has that same fighter's spirit as Jenk, where he wont give up until he is physically incapable of continuing. I actually gained respect for Jenk after he fought Zam, because Jenk took the fight right up to him and gave him everything he had, which is more than I can say for Baris. I am sure if Gurkan and Zam met, there will be no respect lost for either of them regardless of win, loose or draw.

Yeah, i think Jenk gained support. But he was the underdog in both fights and not as accomplished as Gurkan.

I don't know the answer. I guess it would depend on the way the fight went.

It would centainly elevate the winner even more. Who would the fav be? If the fav lost badly would it damage his worth?

I guess both Zam and Ozkan have been thrown against the best and losses could have been a set back. But these fights were needed to bring them up. Just interesting putting them up against each other rather than running them both in their weight divisions with success.

But don't get me wrong. I'd love for this fight to happen. Was just thinking aloud, from a possible promotors view.

Why would anyone lose respect? Anyone who doesn't respect a top fighter just because they lose has a very small mentality (unfortunatly his is a sadly large amount of fight fans). Gurkan has lost a heap of fights and it never really affeced his future bouts. Maybe only among the morons who cheer for a guy when he wins and bag them when they lose.

I think it's very likely that should plans go ahead as Gurkan explained, that we're likely to see them in a kick-ass tourny. No doubt meeting at the final.

Though, has to be noted that tourneys can be full of surprises ( Zam Vs Cope just one example).

I'd prefer to see these two guys come in fresh and fight each other. But if that can't happen, then in tourny format would be good also.

Remy, I think Gurkan loosing a fight with Mike would have more to loose than Visa Versa. I think just the expectations placed on Gurkan ( sheesh, he's fought heavy-weights, so imagine the incredible buzz Mike's loyal supporters would get should Mike win). I'm sure they'd be exstatic, and rightfully so.

If Gurkan won, I think we'd just get the 'So What', look how much bigger he is etc.

But, regardless, if Tarik pulled this one off as a super-fight. I don't think there would be many kickboxing people in Melbourne that would not attend. Absolutely has the potential to draw a huge crowd. I wouldn't miss it for quids. Just imagine the exchanges. And Mike can bloody hit pretty friggen hard. Hard enough for anyone to keep their guard well and truly up. Though, then the little killer just goes for the body.

Such a complete fighter. It's a pleasure watching him fight every time.

I think as was said, that you gained respect for Jenk because of his last few fights, that Jenk has probably got more fans now than ever. Incredible considering he's only won 50% of his fights since his comeback.

I just hope that Tarik will keep getting him Fox fights, because I think Jenk is a brilliant role model for guts and determination. And as a few of us have said dozens of times here, you can pretty much expect a war from Behic every time.

I'm really dissapointed that Daniel Dawson has retired. One of the fights I'd absolutely love to see would be Dawson V Behic under K-1 rules. Jenk won the last fight under Kickboxing rules, and I remember the fight being at an incredible pace. I'd love to see a part 2 installment.

Guys my honest opinion and please remember I have noting against Gurks and quite like him so don't use that as an excuse, is that Zam woud win. He is a totally complete kickboxer, he would find all the flaws in Gurkans style and attack them. Gurkan will have trouble catching him. Let's put this in perspective, don't let Gurkan beating a completely off form and below standard Stan lead you to believe he can effortlesly beat everyone especially smaller fighters. Truth is Zam would likely have beaten the shadow of Stan who showed up last week as well! If Tarik and co are smart they will have already thought of Zam vs Gurkan! Both these fighters like playing the aggressor. With 2 walk up fighters, there is going to be a lot of pride and toe-2-toe showdowns, Gurkan does tend to throw haymakers in aggression when toe-2-toe, while Zam remains more composed picking each shot with an extremely tight guard. That could be dangerous for Gurkan. However, I must admit that Fyfield has fixed Gurkans fight game significantly, and we are seeing less of that "haymaking anylating charge" we once knew.

It would be an awsome fight that's for sure. Perhaps the most important detail would be the agreed weight. How low can Gurkan go without compromising his health or strenght. ie not dehydrating greatly the day before the fight to make the weight.

Welcome to the fight game. Dehyrdating fasting to make the weight is common practice. Boxing more so than K.Boxing and muay thai.

My best mate who is pan pacific junior middle weight champion's natural weight is 82-85kg. He fights at 69kg. Thats over 10kg to lose. He always makes the weight, looks a llittle gaunt but he is comfortable fighting at that weight.

I just finished reading Kostya's autobiography, and had no idea his walk-around weight was about 15kg over his fight weight. Man, that's a lot for a little bloke.

I believe Ozkan said he is willing to get down to 75kg. In past conversations he's allways said he finds below 76 pretty difficult, but I don't doubt his determination would get him down there.
